The Barbarian and the Troll On Nickelodeon Hit Or Miss?

The Barbarian and the Troll premieres this on Nickelodeon on April 2nd and we can already declare it a hit from the first two episodes we have seen. The show checks an large number of our we love this boxes in terms of a series. Fun fantasy characters, check, humor that both parents and kids enjoy, check, an overall story and quest that weaves a thread through the episodes, check, great voice talent, check, it has it all. To add to all our favorites, The Barbarian and the Troll is a live-action puppet series, and you know we love puppets.

So let’s chat about the first two episodes… “Brendar the Barbarian” gives us the back story as to why Brendar is a barbarian and why Evan is not longer collecting tolls on his bridge as we get introduced to the characters in the series. With “Off to See the Wizard” we start to not only get into the character dynamics but also the overall quest and what Brendar is really searching for. Loved these as the introduction to the series, and it is really laugh out loud funny, with some make you think funny thrown in there as well. Evan’s song lyrics played a bit to the older crowd, which was great.

If you read nothing else in the article, our 11 year old daughter gave it the double thumbs up and loved the show, so make sure to tune in. You can see the trailer for The Barbarian and the Troll below to get a taste of what you are in for and make sure to tune in.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
