We are all in on Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered, it is a very fun family show that we all enjoy as we try to figure out who each of the celebrity guests are. We were lucky enough to get the opportunity to speak to Darci Lynne, Lex Lumpkin and Gabrielle Nevaeh Green who are the panelists that get to ask the questions and guess who these celebrity guests are.
Comedian and actor Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, 2 Minutes of Fame), will host Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered (previously Game Face). The remotely produced six-episode game show features panelists Darci Lynne and All That’s Lex Lumpkin and Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, who must guess the identities of virtually disguised celebrity guests.
It is always great to get new content out in a time like this… Tell us how you got involved in the show and how it’s been working with Jay Pharoah?
Darci Lynne: Unfiltered is so unique in the way we film it, and it’s so exciting to be a part of something new in a time like this! Working with Jay Pharoah has been the coolest thing! He’s beyond talented and hilarious! He makes everything so fun, and the show wouldn’t be the same without him!
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: It had been rumored that Nick was starting a new gameshow. I heard a small bit of the concept and I just remember thinking about how cool it would be to be a part of something that was not like anything else on television. Not long after that, Nick called and asked if I wanted to be a panelist on their new show titled Unfiltered. I had never said yes so quickly in my entire life. Working with Jay has been an absolute dream. He is so talented and has been an amazing mentor. Jay is a comedic genius, it’s like having a masterclass every time we film. I have learned so much from him about comedy and impressions in such a short amount of time!
Lex Lumpkin: I got involved in the Unfiltered show through Nickelodeon. I was invited to audition for the show and thankfully got it. Working with Jay Pharoah has been a dream come true for me. I’ve been watching his comedic genius for a while. He has been one of my go to’s for inspiration and to study. He is a master impressionist and I am honored to be working with him.
Besides working on this show, what else have you been doing to keep yourself busy?
Darci Lynne: During quarantine, I’ve taken on learning guitar! It’s been really fun and has given me so much motivation! I also am getting my YouTube going, and I have a new series called The Spin with Darci Lynne!
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: I have been very blessed to work on other Nick shows while in quarantine. I was the host of Nick Tock and guest starred in an episode of Group Chat with Annie and Jayden. Additionally, I have done a lot of voice over work for Nickelodeon as a series regular and a guest star. I am working on my original music and writing my book. I’ve also spent time developing new characters and producing Instagram videos for my comedy series.
Lex Lumpkin: Outside of Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered I’ve been pretty busy. I’ve hosted over twenty seven Instagram Lives between April 7th through July 1st, and I’ve also been writing, shooting skits and collaborating with a few of my cast mates and DangMattSmith. I’ve posted a few TikToks and I’ve been playing my piano. I also started a series called “Crazy Castings” where I do an impression of my favorite celebrity auditioning for a role that you would not expect to see them in. Definitely look for those on my IGTV. This quarantine has helped me to be very productive!
Who do you think out of the three of you is the best at the show and what is your favorite round on the show?
Darci Lynne: I honestly think we all bring something great the show! We’re all stronger in some places I think! I would say my favorite part of the show would be the clues! I enjoy trying to break them down! And, of course, to meet the mystery celebrities is a blast!
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: I’ve actually gotten pretty good at the game! I have only struck out once so far so hopefully I can keep that up! My favorite round so far has to be when we had Asher Angel on the show. I am a big admirer of his work, so I figured him out pretty quickly. It was really hard to contain my excitement all the way up to the reveal! I could not stop smiling!
Lex Lumpkin: Hmmm that’s a loaded question. You know I’m the only guy panelist, right? Are you trying to get me in trouble with Gabrielle and Darcy? (Laugh) To be fair we are all still new at this game, so I’d say we are pretty even on skills right now. I’m hopeful that I will pull out ahead at some point soon… Let’s all keep our fingers crossed on my behalf! My favorite round is at the end of the game when we guess who the celebrity is behind the filter and it’s also crunch time which means we get to see who wins.
Tell us something people would be surprised to know about you?
Darci Lynne: Something people would be surprised about me is that I love to listen to old jazz. It’s one of my favorite genres, and I adore hearing the saxophone!
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: There are a few things that people might be surprised to know about me! I love doing stand-up comedy, I’ve preformed at the legendary “Pico” and “The Ice House” in California and I don’t like corn!
Lex Lumpkin: People would be surprised to know that I’ve been playing the piano for ten years.
What show besides your own do you enjoy on Nickelodeon?
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: Besides All That and Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered, I really enjoy Danger Force! All That actually shoots in the same building as Danger Force, so I’m really good friends with the kids on that show. They all work so hard and it really shows on screen!
Lex Lumpkin: I enjoy watching The Loud House, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan and Danger Force outside of All That and Unfiltered on Nickelodeon.
In one sentence, why should everyone be tuning in to Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered…
Darci Lynne: Tune in to see if you guess it right and because it’s TOTALLY AWESOME!
Gabrielle Nevaeh Green: You should be tuning in to Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered because there is nothing like it on television that’s so exciting, fun, intriguing, and was created just for kids!
Lex Lumpkin: Everyone should be tuned in to Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered because it’s a fast-growing family friendly game show, and it’s loads of fun!
