Nostalgia, if you really think about it enough it really is a funny and precious thing. And massively personal.
No matter what your age, gender, background- we all have things that we treasure that remind of good times from days prolonged. Things that make our hearts leap, and eyes water. We need those attachments because they helped us become who we are. Stories and characters that we think of fondly and resonate deeply truly form the core of us. Stop and think, as a kid or teen or whatever who impacted you. What could have been if you had not that fated encounter. Sometimes it is minimal, others earth shaking.
So why the chatter about nostalgia? Right now we are living in such a peak time of being able to embrace new chapters of characters we adore. The amount of reboots is insane, but in a way it does sometimes make you feel warm inside. Yes, some are grand and mind-blowing (I will forever stand by my belief that 2017 “DuckTales” is the greatest reboot ever), others make us wish maybe that was not done. Everyone is different.
We all know about all the reboots Disney is doings across all mediums. But Nick has some hype too. Personally, the thing that captured my attention is weirdly enough the upcoming reboot of a preschool classic I watched endless as a kid, “Blue’s Clues”.

NICKELODEON GIVES FANS A FIRST LOOK AT ITS BRAND-NEW PRESCHOOL SERIES BLUE’S CLUES & YOU!
Nickelodeon is giving fans a sneak peek at its brand-new series Blue’s Clues & You!–a remake of the groundbreaking, curriculum-driven interactive series Blue’s Clues–with a first-look music video that highlights the show’s new and refreshed elements.
Premiering in November, Blue’s Clues & You! will have a whole new generation of preschoolers searching for clues with beloved girl puppy Blue and the show’s new live-action host Josh (played by TV newcomer and Broadway actor Joshua Dela Cruz)–who is a cousin to former hosts, Steve and Joe.
All-new CG-animation – Josh’s new host outfit—a blue striped shirt, jeans and custom blue sneakers
Return of fan-favorite characters: Tickety Tock, Slippery Soap, Shovel, Pail, Mr. Salt, Mrs. Pepper, Cinnamon, Paprika, Magenta, Sidetable Drawer and Mailbox, plus the original Thinking Chair and an updated Handy Dandy Notebook and crayon, as well as Josh’s brand-new Handy Dandy Guitar.
Okay, weird that a twenty-something is looking forward to this – honestly, no, not in my book.
There are a lot of reboots, but very seldom for a younger fan. And with a lot of parents of said kids having grown up themselves with Blue and company, it is a great feeling knowing how full circle things can come. Time changes things; our animation is sleeker, and we have a new host. But change is not always a bad thing. As long as this new version of Blue’s Clues, “Blue’s Clues & You” carries the same heart and wholesome nature – does it matter?
Join the conversation: What are your feelings on the upcoming reboot? Nay, or yay? What series are you hoping Nick announces next?
