New Disney channel VOD service has been announced, but there is a lot of different information coming out about it. What we are suggesting below is more conjecture based on what the official Disney TV Animation News YouTube channel (update: not an official Disney channel) has been doing lately. Lots of old introduction videos have been loaded including: The Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Dave The Barbarian, American Dragon: Jake Long, The Replacements, Recess, Teamo Supremo, The 7D, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, MotorCity, and many others.
While we do not know the pricing, we feel it will be competitive, especially if it includes the whole Disney library of television shows and movies. It is also not fully know if it will feature any sort of ads, sponsorships, or internal Disney ads, or if it will feature different tiers which would include no ads. What we do know though is that Disney is will have original content going forward with a reboot of the Disney Channel series “High School Musical” as well as reviving of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” We think that they will be introducing even more original content, but where we are interested is the old catalog of cartoons and animated series.
You can see that the YouTube Disney TV Animation News has started uploading introductions from a lot of old shows like American Dragon: Jake Long Intro which you can see below: Total conjecture here, but we feel like this is a great way to start introducing people to what they may see on the new Disney Streaming Service.
We think that will be getting the full catalog of older Disney cartoons, and that makes us wonder, will we only get the originals, or will we start to see some reboots. This also looks like it will be a great venue for the new Legend Of The Three Caballeros and other original animated shows. Do you think there is another reason for all of these uploads of older series introductions, or is it just a great way to get people familiar with what may be coming on the Disney VOD streaming service?
Update: They continue to introduce more and more intro videos for old cartoons, but we have found out this is not an official Disney channel
