Since Lionsgate has bought Summit Entertainment, they have been itching for a way to expand the lifeline of the tale end of Twilight. With Breaking Dawn Part 2 being the final movie coming out in November, they want to find a way to cash in on the brand. So they are considering ways to expand it and that includes a possible TV series. The chief executive of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer had this to say about it.
I’m anticipating ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ being $700 million-plus in worldwide box office, It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value…It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration, (on the rumors of Twilight going on beyond the final movie)So the simple answer is, ‘Boy, I hope so
Okay, I want to point out that he never said a TV series is their idea-but someone came up with the idea. I could see them doing another movie, maybe from Jacob or Edward’s view-or even about Edward and Bella’s daughter. With that being said, I doubt the original cast would be in it-much to Lionsgate dismay.
Do you think they bought Summit just for the rights of the Twilight Saga? I don’t know, but they already have wheels turning in their heads. I personally only want to see the story go on if Stephenie Meyer has something to do with it. Much like with the Harry Potter saga. It just wouldn’t be the same and it would take it way too far. Do you hope they drop the idea of stretching it beyond the original tale?
