I cannot count the number of hours on those rainy days of my youth that I spent reading and rereading my collections of Peanuts comics. Those old black and white comics kept my imagination busy for hours, when the weather outside would not let me play. To hear that kaboom! would be producing a Peanuts comic, this curious fan had to see it for myself.
Within moments of cracking open the introductory issue, I was pulled back into Schultz’s wonderful world of characters from Charlie Brown to Woodstock the bird. I felt like no time had passed since we shared adventures or a barrel full of laughs, and to see it all in crisp color well that is just a bonus. The writing is just fantastic and the new format loses none of the comic strip’s original charm.
The stories presented here are just great and accessible to all ages. There is not need for that “new” cartoon vulgarity that is so present in many kid’s cartoons today. You just don’t mess with a classic! What makes Peanuts so great is its inspiration. It’s all about the adventure of being a kid, and who does not love that!
I have been a Peanuts fan for decades and to see it accessible to a new audience other than the Peanuts holiday specials that still on TV, is just awesome. It is just pure magic when a publisher knows how to bring a classic back to life.
