Recently, Pakistan was hit by devastating floods. 1500 people have died and hundreds of thousands more are stranded, starving, or both. 1500 is about three elementary schools full of people, to give you an idea. Pakistan is far away, and it’s easy to forget how people are suffering.
Selena Gomez took to her Facebook page to remind people to keep helping. She wrote:
Hi Everyone– As I am sure all of you know Pakistan has experienced it’s worst natural disaster in history. Over 6 million children are in need of water, food, shelter, and medicine. UNICEF is there to help but UNICEF needs our help, together we can help save children’s lives. You can text FLOODS to 864233 (UNICEF) …or you can visit the link below to make a donation. Please do whatever you can to help donate a dollar, tell a friend, nothing is too little. God Bless and keep Pakistan in your prayers.
Unicef is part of the United Nations, which is a cooperation of countries all over the world to tackle global problems like hunger, disasters, and health. It’s the arm of the UN dedicated to helping kids who are the victims of disasters. Remember, if you’re under 18 you have to get your parent’s permission before you donate even if it is only a dollar. Has your family given to help the Pakistan floods? What are you doing to help hungry people?
