There are few things quite as magical as stepping into the worlds of our favorite Disney stories.
Whether it’s wandering through the enchanted halls of a magnificent castle, exploring a colorful world filled with extraordinary characters or setting off on an adventure across the ocean, Disney has spent generations inviting audiences to believe that a little magic can make the impossible possible.
And while we’ve certainly experienced these wonderful worlds through animation, theme parks and countless other adventures, there’s something particularly exciting about the idea of bringing them together in one extraordinary destination.
A destination where the ocean stretches as far as the eye can see, familiar characters are waiting around every corner and a brand-new adventure begins the moment you step aboard.
Well, Disney fans, it’s time to get those sea legs ready.
Because another magical adventure is preparing to set sail!
Disney Cruise Line has officially unveiled the Disney Believe, its newest cruise ship, which will embark on its maiden voyage on December 18, 2027, from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
And if the first collection of announced experiences is anything to go by, families are in for quite the adventure.
From an entirely new theatrical adaptation of “Encanto” to a “Frozen” dining experience that promises to introduce another chapter in Arendelle’s beloved story, the Disney Believe is preparing to bring several familiar animated worlds to life in some rather unexpected ways.
And we’re not simply talking about meeting a favorite character or enjoying a themed meal.
We’re talking about stepping directly into the stories themselves.
Perhaps one of the most exciting announcements is the debut of the first-ever stage adaptation of Disney’s “Encanto,” being developed exclusively for the Disney Believe.
The beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film introduced audiences to the extraordinary Madrigal family, whose magical home in Colombia became the setting for a heartfelt story about family, expectations and discovering that our greatest gifts aren’t always the ones everyone can see.
And, of course, it gave us a collection of unforgettable songs that have become favorites among Disney fans.
Now, the colorful world of the Madrigals is preparing to make the leap from animation to the stage, offering guests an entirely new way to experience the magic of Casita and its extraordinary residents.
While Disney has not yet revealed the full details of the production, the announcement alone is certainly exciting.
After all, “Encanto” seems particularly well suited to a theatrical experience, with its lively musical numbers, vibrant characters and magical setting offering plenty of possibilities for creative staging.
And considering how much personality Casita has all on its own, it’ll be interesting to see how Disney brings the family’s remarkable home to life before a live audience.
But the Madrigals aren’t the only beloved Disney family preparing to welcome guests aboard.
Because we’re also heading back to Arendelle!
Well, somewhere just beyond it, actually.
“Oaken’s Table: A Frozen Family Feast” will introduce a brand-new, previously untold chapter in the world of “Frozen,” inviting guests to enjoy an immersive dining experience alongside familiar characters.
Set within a courtyard hidden deep inside a forest, the experience will see Oaken and his family welcoming visitors to share a meal, with Anna and Kristoff also taking part in the festivities.
And if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Oaken over the years, it’s that he certainly knows how to make an impression.
The experience will also feature musical entertainment from Oaken’s cousins, adding another layer of storytelling to what promises to be a rather memorable family meal.
It’s an interesting approach to themed dining, particularly because it doesn’t simply recreate a familiar moment from the animated films.
Instead, Disney is expanding the world of “Frozen” through a new story, giving families an opportunity to spend time with characters they already love while discovering something they haven’t experienced before.
And there’s something especially charming about the idea of enjoying a meal surrounded by the warmth and hospitality of Oaken’s family.
Hopefully, the experience includes plenty of chocolate.
Of course, the Disney Believe’s animated adventures extend far beyond Arendelle and the Madrigal family’s magical home.
At the heart of the ship, guests will discover The Grand Hall, an elaborate gathering space inspired by the breathtaking world of Disney Animation’s “Moana.”
Designed to evoke the meeting point between the sky and sea, the space will function as a living theater where characters from across Disney’s storytelling universe can take center stage.
And considering how important the ocean is to Moana’s journey, it feels particularly fitting to see her world inspiring such a prominent space aboard a Disney cruise ship.
After all, who better to help welcome families to an ocean adventure than a wayfinder who knows a thing or two about answering the call of the sea?
But if your Disney interests lean a little more toward classic fairy tales, there’s another enchanting destination waiting to be discovered.
The Wishing Well will be a gathering space inspired by the memorable settings of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” bringing a little of Disney’s earliest animated magic into the experience.
It’s a wonderful nod to the studio’s animation history, especially as the ship celebrates stories that span several generations of Disney filmmaking.
And from one iconic animated classic, we’re heading into a much more modern metropolis.
Because the residents of Zootopia are getting in on the fun, too!
A new entertainment hub called Gazelle will draw inspiration from Disney Animation’s “Zootopia,” offering live entertainment experiences where families can laugh, sing and participate in activities together.
The venue will also feature adult-exclusive entertainment during nighttime hours, allowing the space to offer different experiences throughout the day.
And considering just how energetic and colorful the world of “Zootopia” can be, there’s plenty of potential for a lively entertainment destination inspired by the franchise.
Perhaps Gazelle herself would approve.
Meanwhile, guests with a sweet tooth will have another reason to celebrate thanks to “Inside Out: Joyful Sweets,” a confectionery inspired by Pixar’s “Inside Out” films.
Drawing inspiration from the expanded collection of emotions introduced in “Inside Out 2,” the location will bring a little of Riley’s colorful emotional world into a collection of sweet treats.
And really, what better character to inspire a dessert destination than Joy?
Although something tells us Anxiety might have a few thoughts about choosing the perfect treat.
The Disney Believe will also introduce new cafes inspired by “Big Hero 6” and “Moana,” further expanding the ship’s collection of animated experiences.
For families who enjoy discovering the little details Disney incorporates into its themed environments, these locations should offer additional opportunities to explore familiar worlds beyond the films themselves.
And that’s perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of the Disney Believe.
Rather than focusing on a single story or franchise, the ship is bringing together an impressive variety of animated properties, allowing guests to move between different Disney worlds throughout their voyage.
One moment, families could be enjoying a theatrical adventure with the Madrigals. The next, they might be sharing a meal inspired by “Frozen,” discovering the wonders of “Moana” or enjoying a sweet treat surrounded by the colorful emotions of “Inside Out.”
It’s a collection of experiences that reflects just how broad Disney’s animated storytelling legacy has become.
And while each of these properties has its own distinctive identity, they share something important: the ability to bring families together through stories that have become meaningful parts of their lives.
The Disney Believe will join its sister ships, the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny, as part of Disney Cruise Line’s continued expansion.
The company is planning to grow its fleet to 13 ships by late 2030, introducing even more opportunities for families to experience Disney’s storytelling through vacations at sea.
And with the Disney Believe preparing for its December 2027 debut, there’s still plenty of time for additional details about its entertainment, dining and onboard experiences to be revealed.
But even from this first announcement, it’s clear that Disney is placing its beloved animated stories at the center of the ship’s identity.
For generations, those stories have encouraged audiences to dream a little bigger, discover new worlds and believe that extraordinary things can happen when we embrace the possibilities around us.
Now, they’re preparing to become part of an entirely new kind of family adventure.
The Disney Believe will set sail on its maiden voyage December 18, 2027, from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
And between the magic of “Encanto,” the warmth of “Frozen,” the wonder of “Moana” and the many other animated worlds preparing to welcome guests aboard, there’s certainly plenty to look forward to.
So pack your bags, Disney fans.
Because adventure is calling, the ocean is waiting and a whole collection of familiar friends is preparing to welcome us aboard.
And this time, all we have to do is Believe!
