“The Legend of Korra” Returns With New Graphic Novel Trilogy, The Long Game!

The world of Avatar has always been one filled with extraordinary stories, complex characters and adventures that continue to resonate with audiences long after their original journeys have come to an end. And while we’re preparing to explore an entirely new chapter of the franchise through upcoming animated projects, there’s still plenty of room to revisit some of the familiar faces whose stories helped shape this beloved universe.

And it looks like we’re heading back to Republic City for another adventure with Avatar Korra!

During New York Comic Con 2026, Dark Horse Comics officially revealed The Legend of Korra: The Long Game, an all-new graphic novel trilogy written by none other than Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino.

The announcement, made October 8, also included our first look at the upcoming trilogy’s cover artwork, illustrated by Alexandria Monik. And while details surrounding the story remain rather limited, the artwork has already given fans plenty to speculate about, featuring several familiar characters from Korra’s adventures.

Among the recognizable faces appearing on the cover are Korra herself, alongside Bolin, Zaheer and Tokuga. It’s certainly an interesting combination of characters, particularly considering the complicated history surrounding several of these individuals and the roles they’ve played throughout the franchise.

For longtime fans, the return of Zaheer is especially intriguing. As one of the most formidable antagonists introduced during The Legend of Korra, his actions left a lasting impact on Korra’s journey, making his appearance in the promotional artwork a particularly interesting development.

And with Tokuga also featured, there are certainly plenty of questions surrounding what direction this newest story could take.

Of course, the involvement of Michael Dante DiMartino is another exciting aspect of the announcement, bringing one of the original creative voices behind the Avatar universe back to the world of Korra for an entirely new story.

While additional information regarding the trilogy’s plot and publication schedule has yet to be announced, The Legend of Korra: The Long Game is already shaping up to be another noteworthy addition to the franchise’s expanding collection of graphic novels.

And as the Avatar universe continues to grow, it’s wonderful to know that Korra’s story still has more adventures waiting to be told!
