It looks like Christmas might be in a little trouble this year, and this time, the holiday chaos is happening beneath the waves!
With the festive season quickly approaching, something rather unusual has happened at nine SEA LIFE Aquariums across the United States. The decorations from the Undersea Christmas Tree have mysteriously disappeared, including the very special Christmas Sea Star that belongs at the top of the tree.
And with Christmas on the line, Santa is calling upon some familiar little helpers to save the day.
That’s right, the Scout Elves from The Elf on the Shelf are getting ready to embark on an underwater adventure as part of an all-new holiday experience bringing together the beloved Christmas tradition and the fascinating world of marine life.
SEA LIFE Aquariums and The Lumistella Company have officially announced The Sea Star Search with The Elf on the Shelf, an interactive Christmas trail inviting children and families to help Santa’s Scout Elves recover the missing decorations and restore a little holiday magic to the ocean.
And based on what has been revealed, it looks like this particular mission will require quite a bit of exploring.
As the story goes, Santa’s Scout Elves have already managed to track down the missing decorations throughout the aquarium. However, getting everything back where it belongs is going to require a little extra help from young visitors.
Upon arriving, families will receive a special activity sheet and lanyard before setting off on their journey through the aquarium. Along the way, they’ll encounter Scout Elves hiding throughout the different areas, discover interactive challenge points and complete a variety of festive activities designed to help recover the missing decorations.
But finding the decorations isn’t the only part of the adventure.
With each challenge completed, children will collect another piece of the missing Christmas Sea Star, gradually building their own Christmas Sea Star Medallion as they make their way through the experience. And once they’ve successfully completed the trail, they’ll get to take their finished medallion home as a keepsake, along with an exclusive The Elf on the Shelf Christmas Star Certificate recognizing their efforts in helping save Christmas.
What makes this new experience particularly interesting is how it brings together two very different worlds.
While The Elf on the Shelf has become a familiar part of the holiday season for many families, SEA LIFE is giving children an opportunity to experience the tradition in an entirely different setting. Rather than searching for Scout Elves around their homes, young visitors will be discovering them throughout an aquarium, surrounded by real marine habitats and the many creatures that call the ocean home.
And by combining the festive storyline with interactive activities and underwater exploration, the experience offers families an opportunity to enjoy a little Christmas fun while also discovering more about the natural world.
The new holiday adventure will be available at nine SEA LIFE Aquarium locations across the United States, including Arizona, Carlsbad, Charlotte-Concord, Grapevine, Mall of America, Michigan, New Jersey, Orlando and San Antonio.
The experience is included with general aquarium admission, allowing families to take part in the festive mission as they explore the attractions.
With Christmas approaching, it looks like Santa’s Scout Elves are going to have their hands full this year. And for families visiting SEA LIFE, there is a chance to become part of the adventure and help make sure the Undersea Christmas Tree is ready for the holidays!
