“Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby” Is Setting Sail for Audiences Around the World!

Get ready to set sail on a grand adventure filled with pirates, hidden treasures and a rather extraordinary young heroine because an all-new animated family film is preparing to make its way to audiences around the world!

For generations, stories about pirates and their adventures across the seven seas have captured the imaginations of children and families alike. From mysterious treasures and legendary ships to the friendships formed along the way, there is something about these seafaring adventures that continues to inspire storytellers to explore new possibilities.

And now, another story is preparing to join the world of animated family entertainment with Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby.

Based on Kirsten Boie’s beloved children’s book Seeräubermoses, the upcoming animated feature follows Mo, a young girl who has spent practically her entire life aboard a pirate ship after being raised by Captain Claas and his crew, alongside their trusty pet goat.

But when Mo is captured by the troublesome Peg Leg Olle, her life takes an unexpected turn. Along the way, she meets a cabin boy named Hannes and his feathered companion, setting the stage for an adventure that will bring the unlikely friends together with Captain Claas and his crew in a race to defeat Olle and uncover the legendary red ruby.

Directed by Florian Westermann, who previously co-directed The Amazing Maurice, the film brings another children’s literary adventure to the world of animation, combining a treasure-hunting journey with a story about friendship, courage and finding your way back to the people who matter most.

And it looks like audiences across the globe will have an opportunity to join Mo on her adventure!

Ahead of its upcoming market premiere at the American Film Market, Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby has secured distribution agreements covering more than 50 countries. Among the newest additions are Australia and New Zealand through Umbrella Entertainment, Israel through FilmHouse and Vietnam through Skyline Media.

The film has also secured distribution across numerous European territories, the Middle East and North America, with Viva Pictures Distribution handling its North American release.

Pirate Mo and the Legend of the Red Ruby is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters in Germany and Austria on April 29, 2027, with release dates for other territories yet to be announced.
