There are plenty of changes that come with welcoming a new baby into the family, and as any parent knows, some of those changes can happen rather quickly. From those first little movements to the moment when babies begin exploring the world around them, each new stage brings its own experiences, challenges and milestones.
And while some of those moments are certainly more exciting than others, they are all part of watching little ones grow and become increasingly independent.
Something that the world of Peppa Pig has been exploring with the arrival of its newest family member, Evie.
Since introducing Peppa and George’s baby sister, the beloved preschool franchise has been finding new ways to explore the everyday experiences that come with having a baby in the family. And now, one of those familiar parenting moments has become the inspiration for an all-new song and dance that is getting families moving together.
That’s right, Evie has her very own dance!
Hasbro and Pampers have teamed up for Evie’s Nappy Pants Dance, a new song and music video inspired by the moment when babies become a little too active and wriggly for traditional nappy changes.
And to celebrate the release, the two brands decided to do something rather unexpected.
They threw a baby rave!
On October 25, Pampers and Peppa Pig brought families and their tiniest dancers together at London’s iconic Ministry of Sound for No Leaks, Just Beats, a special event celebrating the debut of the new music video.
Hosted by radio presenter, dancer, television personality and father of three Jordan Banjo, the event transformed the famous music venue into a space where babies, toddlers and their parents could enjoy music, dancing and a rather different kind of family outing.
And the entertainment wasn’t limited to the new song.
The event also featured sets from Artful Dodger and Wideboys, alongside an appearance behind the decks from none other than Daddy Pig himself, bringing a little of the familiar humor and personality of Peppa Pig into the celebration.
But at the center of it all was Evie’s Nappy Pants Dance, a new song and accompanying dance designed to celebrate an important stage in Evie’s development.
As babies begin moving around more, something as simple as changing a nappy can become quite an adventure. And for parents who have experienced trying to change a particularly wriggly little one, it’s a moment that is probably going to sound rather familiar.
The song takes that everyday experience and turns it into something playful, celebrating Evie’s transition from taped nappies to nappy pants as she becomes more active.
And rather than simply introducing another song for young children to listen to, the accompanying music video encourages families to get involved themselves.
Featuring Peppa alongside real-life children, the video introduces a follow-along dance built around simple movements, repetition and opportunities for interaction between children and their parents or caregivers.
The dance was developed with support from Emma O’Dwyer of Baby Speak, with an emphasis on encouraging early communication skills through music, movement and play.
It’s an approach that fits particularly well with Peppa Pig, a franchise that has always found much of its storytelling inspiration in the ordinary experiences of family life.
Whether it’s welcoming a new sibling, learning something new or discovering how to navigate a change in everyday routines, Peppa Pig has continued to explore the kinds of moments that young children and their families can recognize from their own lives.
And with Evie’s arrival opening the door to a new collection of stories centered around caring for a baby, there are plenty of opportunities for the franchise to explore experiences that might be especially familiar to parents with younger children.
What makes this particular collaboration interesting is how it takes a parenting milestone that isn’t necessarily the most exciting part of everyday life and finds a way to turn it into a shared activity.
After all, while the song is connected to the introduction of Pampers Premium Protection Nappy Pants featuring Peppa Pig characters, the music video itself is designed around encouraging families to spend time moving, playing and interacting together.
And for younger children, those opportunities to participate can be just as important as the music itself.
The Pampers Premium Protection Nappy Pants collection is available beginning at size 3, featuring Peppa Pig characters and an easy-on, easy-off design intended for babies who are becoming increasingly active. The products also include several comfort and protection features, including soft materials and a pocket at the back designed to help prevent leaks.
Meanwhile, families who weren’t able to attend the London celebration can still join in on the fun from home.
Evie’s Nappy Pants Dance is now available on major music streaming platforms, with the accompanying music video available on YouTube.
And while a baby rave might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about a new Peppa Pig collaboration, it’s certainly a rather creative way to celebrate one of the many little milestones that come with growing up.
For Peppa, George and baby Evie, it’s another opportunity to bring a familiar family experience into their world. And for parents and their own little ones, it’s a chance to turn an ordinary moment into something filled with music, movement and a little fun!
