There are some stories that never truly leave us. Stories that, no matter how many years pass or how much the world around us changes, continue to hold a special place in our hearts. From the characters who first introduced us to the wonders of storytelling to the lessons that have remained with us long after childhood, these beloved tales have a remarkable way of becoming part of who we are. And sometimes, the greatest stories aren’t necessarily about grand adventures or extraordinary accomplishments, but rather the simple joys of friendship, kindness and appreciating the little things in life.
For one rather lovable bear with an extraordinary appetite for hunny, those simple pleasures have been at the heart of his adventures for an entire century.
That’s right! It’s time to return to the Hundred Acre Wood because Winnie the Pooh is officially celebrating his 100th anniversary!
First introduced to readers in October 1926 through A.A. Milne’s beloved book Winnie-the-Pooh, the little bear and his woodland friends have become some of the most recognizable characters in children’s literature and entertainment. From Pooh’s thoughtful observations and Piglet’s gentle courage to Tigger’s boundless enthusiasm and Eeyore’s unmistakable outlook on life, each character has brought something wonderfully unique to the stories that generations of families have come to treasure.
And now, as the beloved franchise reaches its centennial milestone, Disney is continuing a yearlong celebration honoring the stories, friendships and unforgettable memories that have made Winnie the Pooh such an enduring part of childhood.
Throughout 2026, Disney has introduced a variety of anniversary experiences, special merchandise collections and new storytelling opportunities designed to celebrate Pooh’s remarkable legacy. The festivities began earlier this year with a global campaign featuring original content, interactive experiences and familiar pieces of wisdom inspired by the beloved bear, reminding audiences why his gentle approach to life continues to resonate with fans of all ages.
Of course, no celebration of Winnie the Pooh would be complete without a few special surprises!
Among the many anniversary releases are new plush toys and collectibles from Just Play, including a deluxe 100th anniversary Winnie the Pooh plush and additions to the Happy Haul collection. POP MART has also introduced an anniversary blind-box series featuring Pooh and his friends celebrating with balloons, treats and festive accessories, while JAKKS Pacific has brought a little Hundred Acre Wood charm to its Disney Darlings interactive baby doll collection.
And for fans who have grown up alongside Pooh, there’s an equally delightful selection of merchandise designed with older audiences in mind. BoxLunch, Vera Bradley, Stoney Clover Lane and Disney Store have introduced collections inspired by the familiar woodland friends, spanning apparel, bags, accessories and seasonal plush. Additional releases from Her Universe, Loungefly, Pandora and other brands will continue bringing the world of Winnie the Pooh into everyday fashion and accessories.
But perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of the centennial celebration is the continued focus on the stories themselves.
Disney is honoring the literary origins of Winnie the Pooh through several new publishing releases, including Winnie the Pooh: 100 Mindful Moments, a book that explores the simple pleasures of everyday life through reflections, activities, recipes and illustrations inspired by Pooh’s gentle outlook on the world. Other anniversary titles include Winnie the Pooh: Wonders of the Hundred-Acre Wood Treasury, Disney: Winnie the Pooh: The Hundred-Acre Wood Cookbook and The Winnie the Pooh Book: A Centenary Celebration.
These releases feel particularly fitting for a character whose greatest lessons have often been found in the smallest moments. Whether it’s appreciating the company of a good friend, finding courage when things seem uncertain or simply taking time to enjoy the world around us, the stories of Winnie the Pooh have always carried messages that extend far beyond their original audience.
And the celebration isn’t limited to books and merchandise.
Disney Jr. welcomed a new collection of Playdate with Winnie the Pooh animated shorts to Disney+ on October 9, introducing more adventures with the beloved characters for younger viewers. Meanwhile, players of Disney Dreamlight Valley can explore the newly available Honeyglow Woods adventure pack, offering another opportunity to experience the charm of Pooh’s world through interactive entertainment.
Additional anniversary activities have included special experiences in New York City, while Disney is also bringing Pooh and his friends into new digital collaborations designed to connect with contemporary audiences.
What makes this anniversary especially remarkable, however, isn’t simply the number of new products or experiences arriving throughout the year. It’s the realization that a character introduced to readers a century ago continues to resonate with children and adults in much the same way he did generations earlier.
For some, Winnie the Pooh represents childhood afternoons spent watching animated adventures. For others, it’s the memory of a favorite bedtime story, a treasured stuffed animal or a familiar book shared between parents and children. And for younger audiences discovering the Hundred Acre Wood today, those same characters are continuing to introduce the importance of friendship, imagination and kindness.
In an entertainment landscape that is constantly evolving, there’s something rather wonderful about knowing that the adventures of a little bear and his friends can still bring so much happiness after one hundred years.
While October marks the official anniversary of A.A. Milne’s original publication, Disney’s centennial festivities aren’t ending just yet, with additional celebrations and releases expected into spring 2027.
So, here’s to 100 years of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore and all the wonderful friends who have made the Hundred Acre Wood such an unforgettable place.
And if there’s one thing we’ve learned from a century of adventures with a certain silly old bear, it’s that sometimes the very smallest things can take up the most room in our hearts.
Happy 100th anniversary, Winnie the Pooh! May there always be another pot of hunny waiting just around the corner.
