There is a whole world of incredible creatures waiting to be discovered, and sometimes, the smallest animals can play some of the biggest roles in keeping our planet healthy.

From the butterflies that visit our gardens to the worms living beneath our feet, nature is filled with fascinating creatures that help make the world around us a better place. And while we might not always notice them, each one has an important job to do.

Now, two beloved names in children’s entertainment are coming together to help young learners discover just how important some of these creatures really are.

The LEGO Group and Sesame Workshop have officially launched a new collection of educational videos designed to introduce children ages four through six to the wonders of the natural world, with a little help from some familiar faces from Sesame Street.

Featuring Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Oscar the Grouch and The Count, the new collection includes three short videos exploring bats, butterflies and worms, inviting young viewers to learn about the important roles these animals play in nature before creating their own habitats using LEGO bricks and everyday crafting materials.

And each adventure has something a little different to teach!

In the first video, Cookie Monster gets quite a surprise when he encounters a bat. But with a little help from The Count, he soon discovers that these nighttime creatures have an important role in pollinating plants and protecting crops, including cacao trees, which provide the chocolate that Cookie Monster certainly knows a thing or two about!

Meanwhile, Elmo and Grover are getting ready to explore the colorful world of butterflies, discovering how these beautiful insects can help indicate a healthy garden while learning what they can do to make outdoor spaces more welcoming for them.

And for those who don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty, Oscar the Grouch is joining Elmo to introduce children to the wonderful world of worms and the important work they do to keep soil healthy and gardens growing.

But the learning doesn’t have to end when the videos are over.

As part of the new initiative, which is funded by the LEGO Foundation, families and educators can access a collection of free activity guides and printable resources that encourage children to take what they’ve learned and turn it into their own hands-on creations.

By using LEGO bricks and materials they already have at home, children can design habitats for their newly discovered animal friends while learning about the importance of food, water and shelter.

Each video runs approximately three minutes, making the collection an accessible introduction to nature for younger children, while the accompanying activities offer opportunities to continue exploring through creative play.

And perhaps one of the most important parts of the collaboration is its focus on helping children understand that even the smallest actions can make a difference when it comes to caring for the world around them.

The three videos and accompanying activities are available for free through the LEGO Group’s Build the Change webpage, with the videos also making their way to the official Sesame Street YouTube channel.

With a little imagination, some colorful bricks and a few familiar friends from Sesame Street, children can begin discovering that protecting nature starts with understanding the incredible creatures that share our planet.

Mother of three. That does not include the dog or my husband either! We have a full household of fun and we just love trying new products of all varieties. May not watch as many kids shows as the rest of the family though.
