There are certain childhood interests that seem almost inevitable.
Space. Trucks. Animals. And, of course, dinosaurs.
For some kids, that fascination arrives remarkably early, sending them straight into a prehistoric world filled with creatures whose names they somehow manage to memorize before mastering considerably easier words.
And now “Jurassic World” is getting ready for some of its youngest dinosaur fans yet.
Spin Master and Universal have announced a new global licensing agreement for a preschool toy collection inspired by the “Jurassic World” franchise, creating a new way for children ages 2 to 5 to experience some colossal dinosaur adventures at a considerably smaller—and more approachable—scale.
Expected to arrive at major retailers in 2028, the collection is being developed specifically around how preschoolers play rather than simply taking toys intended for older “Jurassic World” fans and making them smaller. Spin Master says the line will combine dinosaur action with humor, hands-on discovery, imaginative storytelling and open-ended play designed around the developmental needs of younger children.
Basically, consider this their first trip to “Jurassic World.”
The new collection will feature plenty of roaring dinosaurs while giving little paleontologists opportunities to explore the prehistoric world through play. Spin Master says the toys are intended to help children feel capable and confident as they create their own adventures, turning the excitement of encountering a massive dinosaur into something built specifically for little hands and big imaginations.
And there is something particularly fitting about introducing “Jurassic World” this way.
Dinosaurs have an almost unmatched ability to capture children’s attention long before they’re old enough for the larger adventures surrounding them. You don’t necessarily need to understand complicated science, prehistoric ecosystems or everything happening in a “Jurassic World” movie to know that a gigantic roaring dinosaur is incredibly cool.
Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
The preschool collection gives Universal and Spin Master an opportunity to build around that fascination first, creating a gateway into the larger “Jurassic World” universe where discovery and imagination can take priority over some of the franchise’s more intense dinosaur encounters.
Under the agreement, Spin Master will develop a broad range of preschool toys for markets around the world excluding China and Japan. The companies haven’t revealed individual products yet, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see exactly which dinosaurs will be stomping into playrooms when the collection arrives in 2028.
The agreement also continues an already substantial relationship between Spin Master and Universal. Spin Master’s portfolio includes products connected to “Gabby’s Dollhouse,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Wicked: For Good,” alongside the Jurassic World Primal Hatch interactive toy, Hatchin’ Yoshi egg and the upcoming Hellbreak trading card game.
But this newest partnership is reaching for a particularly young audience.
For generations of children, dinosaurs have provided one of those first gateways into discovering something much bigger than themselves. They encourage questions, imaginative play and an impressive ability to explain the difference between a Triceratops and a Stegosaurus to any adult unfortunate enough to get it wrong.
Now “Jurassic World” wants to be there for the beginning of that fascination.
Spin Master’s new preschool “Jurassic World” toy collection is expected to launch at major retailers in 2028.
So get ready, parents.
The dinosaurs are coming.
Only this time, they’re preschool-sized.
