The world of streaming entertainment is continuing to change, and with more television shows, movies and original programming available than ever before, finding a place to enjoy some of your favorite stories has become an important part of the viewing experience for audiences and families alike.
And now, Disney+ is preparing to make its streaming library even bigger for subscribers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, thanks to a new partnership with one of Britain’s most recognizable television broadcasters.
The Walt Disney Company and Channel 4 have officially announced a new agreement that will bring Channel 4 programming directly to Disney+ beginning in early 2027, giving subscribers access to hundreds of hours of additional television entertainment without the need for another subscription.
The new partnership will see Channel 4 receive its own dedicated section within Disney+, allowing viewers to explore an assortment of British television programming alongside the streaming platform’s existing collection of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and other entertainment offerings.
But this isn’t simply a case of bringing a few familiar television shows to another streaming service.
As part of the agreement, Disney+ subscribers will also be able to watch Channel 4’s main television channel live in HD, alongside a growing collection of on-demand programming. And perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the partnership is that several new Channel 4 productions will become available on Disney+ the same day they debut through Channel 4.
Among the titles announced for the new lineup are the upcoming drama Maya, starring Bella Ramsey, the comedy Stepping Up, featuring Denise Welch, and the reality competition series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Viewers will also be able to discover additional Channel 4 programming, including Big Mood, Tip Toe and 24 Hours in A&E, as part of the expanded entertainment collection.
For Disney+, the agreement represents another step in the company’s efforts to bring more locally produced entertainment to subscribers around the world, while also providing Channel 4 with an opportunity to introduce its programming to audiences who may not regularly watch traditional television.
And for households that already use Disney+ as one of their main destinations for entertainment, the new addition means having even more viewing options available in one place.
Of course, not every title joining the service will necessarily be intended for younger viewers, with Channel 4’s programming covering a wide range of genres and audiences. But the partnership does expand the variety of entertainment available to households through their existing Disney+ subscriptions.
Channel 4 is expected to arrive on Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland in early 2027, with an official launch date and additional details about the available programming to be announced at a later time.
And as streaming services continue exploring new ways to bring audiences more entertainment, this partnership could offer an interesting look at how traditional broadcasters and streaming platforms may work together in the years ahead.
