“Cloud Girl” Is Bringing a Magical New Adventure to Theaters This January!

There is something truly wonderful about the limitless possibilities that exist within the pages of a book. Stories that can transport us to extraordinary places, introduce us to unforgettable characters and allow us to imagine a world where even the most impossible things might become reality.

But what would happen if the wishes we dreamed about could actually come true?

That’s the question at the heart of Cloud Girl, an upcoming animated family adventure that is preparing to take audiences on a magical journey filled with imagination, friendship and a rather unusual guinea pig!

Viva Kids has officially acquired the United States distribution rights to Cloud Girl, the new animated feature from French director Philippe Riche, with the film scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 8, 2027. And to celebrate the upcoming release, a new trailer has been unveiled, offering audiences another look at the imaginative world awaiting them.

Inspired by Romain Puértolas’ 2015 novel The Little Girl Who Swallowed a Cloud as Big as the Eiffel Tower, the film follows an eleven-year-old girl with a tremendous love for reading who unexpectedly finds herself entrusted with a magical quill capable of granting any wish written with it.

Naturally, having the ability to make just about anything possible opens the door to some rather extraordinary ideas.

Including the ability to fly!

And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, she also wishes for her pet guinea pig, Airbag, to be able to talk. But what begins as an incredible opportunity to experience things she could have only imagined soon transforms into a much bigger adventure, as the unlikely pair find themselves on a dangerous mission to save the planet.

The upcoming film features a voice cast led by Faith Delaney, Hugh Laurie, Joseph Balderrama, Ken Nwosu and Bhavnisha Parmar, bringing the characters of this imaginative story to life.

Previously known as Girl in the Clouds, the animated feature was also selected for the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, marking another milestone for the production ahead of its theatrical debut.

With its storybook inspiration, magical wishes and an adventure that takes an ordinary young girl into an extraordinary situation, Cloud Girl looks to offer families a new animated story about the possibilities that can emerge when imagination becomes something much more than a dream.

Cloud Girl is rated PG and will arrive in United States theaters on January 8, 2027.
