Boat Rocker Studios Begins Production on Two New Preschool Series, “Harlo” and “Puppy Pirates”!

The world of preschool animation is about to welcome two new adventures, bringing young viewers an assortment of colorful characters, imaginative storytelling and important lessons about growing up and discovering the world around them.

And this time, we’re meeting a rather cautious little bunny and a crew of four adventurous puppies who are ready to sail the seven seas!

Boat Rocker Studios, the entertainment company behind Dino Ranch, has officially announced that production is underway on two all-new animated preschool series, Harlo and Puppy Pirates, in partnership with Industrial Brothers.

While both series are designed for young children, each will offer something a little different for families to look forward to.

First up is Harlo, a new 2D animated series following the everyday adventures of a five-and-a-half-year-old bunny who isn’t always quite as confident about trying new things as those around him. Alongside his single dad and best friends Tula and Maple, Harlo will find himself navigating the little challenges and experiences that are all part of growing up.

From learning how to approach unfamiliar situations to discovering ways to manage feelings of worry, the series will explore some of the emotions that many young children encounter as they begin developing their own independence. And rather than focusing solely on those challenges, Harlo will bring humor, friendship and a sense of community into each adventure, helping young viewers discover that it’s perfectly okay to feel a little uncertain sometimes.

The series is being developed with guidance from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health to help shape its approach to anxiety and emotional well-being.

Created and directed by Mike Geiger, Harlo will feature 52 eleven-minute episodes and is scheduled to premiere on CBC in 2027.

But for families who prefer their adventures with a little more action, treasure hunting and a whole lot of puppy-powered excitement, Boat Rocker has another new series on the way!

Puppy Pirates follows four heroic hounds who spend their days sailing across the high seas, helping others recover their missing treasures and lost belongings. Whether something precious has disappeared or someone needs a little help finding their loot, this adventurous crew is ready to answer the call.

Created by Matthew Fernandes, whose previous work includes Dino Ranch and Daniel Spellbound, the upcoming series will feature 40 eleven-minute episodes and is currently in production in Toronto.

Puppy Pirates is set to premiere globally on Netflix, although an official release date has not yet been announced.

Both productions also arrive as Boat Rocker continues expanding its preschool animation lineup, following the previously announced second season of Dino Ranch: Island Explorers.

With one series exploring the everyday emotions and experiences of childhood and the other taking young viewers on imaginative adventures across the ocean, Harlo and Puppy Pirates are shaping up to bring two very different kinds of fun to the world of preschool entertainment.
