Big Hugs! “Teletubbies” Are Celebrating Nearly 30 Years With Toys, Fashion, Beauty and More

Big Hugs! “Teletubbies” Are Celebrating Nearly 30 Years With Toys, Fashion, Beauty and More

Eh-oh!

There are few children’s television characters quite as instantly recognizable as four brightly colored friends named Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po.

For nearly three decades, the Teletubbies have danced, played and shared plenty of BIG HUGS with generations of little ones. But something rather interesting happens when a children’s property sticks around long enough.

Those little ones grow up.

As WildBrain prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Teletubbies” in 2027, the company is expanding the franchise through new experiences and partnerships spanning toys, collectibles, fashion, beauty, food, technology and more. Some are naturally designed for today’s youngest Teletubbies fans, while others are aimed squarely at the adults who remember watching that familiar baby-faced sun rise over Teletubbyland themselves.

Apparently, 30 years later, we’re all still saying eh-oh.

WildBrain describes joy, play and human connection as the heart of the franchise, and its latest expansion is taking those ideas around the world. Following recent activations across the Asia Pacific region, including appearances connected to Korea’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Starfield Balloon Festival, Gyeongju City and the WildBrain Garden retail destination in China, the Teletubbies have now arrived in Taiwan for another immersive experience.

Pu Tai has launched Taiwan’s first Teletubbies pop-up at Taipei’s Q Square, complete with photo opportunities, character appearances and exclusive merchandise.

But you won’t necessarily have to travel to Teletubbyland—or Taiwan—to find Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po as their anniversary approaches.

The foursome are making themselves remarkably comfortable almost everywhere else too.

Fashion continues to become a particularly big part of the franchise’s grown-up life. Following collaborations with brands including Diadora, Bull Airs is developing limited-edition apparel, accessories and footwear collections for the U.S. and Canada, with pre-sales expected later this year. Overlord Caps will introduce headwear aimed at Gen Z fans in late 2026, while Whatever! Makes You Happy is preparing bags, accessories and trinkets for spring 2027.

Elsewhere, Funiglobal has renewed its Teletubbies dress-up costumes in Spain, while La Carpe has launched children’s clothing in China with additional products planned.

Of course, no Teletubbies celebration would be complete without toys.

Character Options is expanding its existing line with new stylized plush and figurines while bringing the collection beyond the U.K. into Pan-Europe. Kids Preferred will introduce stylized infant plush in the U.S. and Canada next year, while McFarlane Toys’ QMx brand is preparing 3.5-inch Teletubbies Q-Fig collectibles for 2027.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is even getting involved with a line of collectible bobbleheads.

Thirty years ago, perhaps you wanted a Po plush.

In 2027, apparently you might want Po displayed beside the rest of your collectibles.

And then we get to beauty.

After previous collaborations with Glisten Cosmetics, Trixie Cosmetics and MISSHA, the Teletubbies are moving further into the category through a new partnership with Malaysia’s Glampick. Its Teletubbies K-beauty program features participating brands including AXIS-Y, Bano, COSRX, Dr. Althea, EQQUALBERRY, ilso, NARD, Purito, SKINFOOD and SOME BY MI.

Yes, we have officially reached the point where the generation that watched the Teletubbies as preschoolers can incorporate them into their skincare routines.

Time is fascinating.

The expansion gets even broader from there. FitPet has introduced Teletubbies pet accessories in Korea, while a SMUCKER’S promotion will allow fans in South Korea to redeem special jam packages for collectible Teletubbies keychains. ToySelect has launched phone cases, AirPods cases, MagSafe accessories and other lifestyle technology products in Taiwan.

MINISO is also expanding its Teletubbies assortment with new products globally, while Chinese hot pot chain Haidilao will launch its own collaboration with the franchise in October 2026.

Taken individually, these partnerships cover a remarkably wide range of products. Together, however, they tell a much more interesting story about what “Teletubbies” has become as it approaches 30.

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po still belong to preschoolers. There are new infant plush toys and children’s clothing ensuring another generation can meet them for the first time.

But they also belong to the people who already did.

Those children grew up, and instead of leaving Teletubbyland completely behind, they’re finding pieces of it again through fashion, beauty, collectibles and experiences created with older fans in mind.

That gives the upcoming anniversary something many long-running children’s properties eventually discover: nostalgia and discovery can happen at exactly the same time.

One person sees a new character.

Someone else sees childhood.

And somewhere between the two, there is probably room for a BIG HUG.

“Teletubbies” celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027, with WildBrain continuing to expand the franchise through new partnerships and experiences around the world.

Thirty years later, the sun is still rising over Teletubbyland.

Eh-oh, indeed.

Mother of three. That does not include the dog or my husband either! We have a full household of fun and we just love trying new products of all varieties. May not watch as many kids shows as the rest of the family though.
