“The Wingfeather Saga” Returns This October With Season 4 and New Cast

The Wingfeather family has been on quite the adventure.

Unfortunately for them, things aren’t about to get any easier.

“The Wingfeather Saga” is officially returning for its fourth season on October 21, with Angel revealing a new poster and first-look teaser for the next chapter of the popular animated fantasy series.

This time around, the Wingfeathers are heading north toward the Green Hollows as the animated adaptation begins tackling the events of Andrew Peterson’s third novel, “The Monster in the Hollows.”

After fleeing Gnag the Nameless and his army of Fangs, the family hopes to find refuge in the seemingly peaceful society of Ban Rona. Yet Kalmar’s Fangish appearance quickly draws fear and suspicion from those around him, making settling into their new home considerably more difficult than anyone might have hoped.

Meanwhile, Nia finds herself reconnecting with old friends and traditions as the children begin their own new adventures at Guildling Hall. Leeli takes up the study of Houndry, while Kalmar and Janner train with the Durgan Guild.

Unfortunately, a peaceful new life isn’t exactly how fantasy adventures tend to work.

Distrust and unexpected conflicts begin growing around the family, threatening not only their place within Ban Rona, but their safety and relationships with one another.

Season 4 is also bringing several new voices into the increasingly expansive world of “The Wingfeather Saga.”

Dan Stevens joins the cast as Esben Wingfeather, alongside Jim Broadbent as Bonifer Squoon, Nadia Quinn as Madame Sidler, Sam Clark as Rudric, Noah Rafferty as Grigory and Lin Gallagher as Olumphia.

They join a returning cast that already includes Jodi Benson as Nia Wingfeather, Kevin McNally as Podo Helmer, Alkaio Thiele as Janner Wingfeather, Henry Witcher as Kalmar Wingfeather, Romy Fay as Leeli Wingfeather, David Oyelowo as General Timber and Henry Ian Cusick as Artham Wingfeather.

The upcoming season also arrives as “The Wingfeather Saga” continues building a rather impressive story of its own away from the adventures happening on screen.

Based on Peterson’s bestselling fantasy novels, the animated adaptation was Angel’s highest-rated title on the streaming platform in 2025 and currently holds a 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Even better for fans, the journey isn’t stopping with the Green Hollows.

A fifth season was officially greenlit earlier this summer during the Annecy International Animation Film Market and is already planned for fall 2027, with Matthew Rhys set to return as Gammon.

That gives “The Wingfeather Saga” something increasingly valuable in the streaming era: room to keep telling its story.

Produced by Nashville-based Shining Isle Productions, the series has steadily transformed Peterson’s fantasy world into an animated adventure filled with strange creatures, dangerous journeys and, at the center of everything, one family attempting to stay together through all of it.

Season 4 appears ready to test that family considerably more.

“The Wingfeather Saga” Season 4 premieres October 21 on Angel, while the first three seasons are currently available to stream.

Hopefully the Green Hollows prove to be a nice peaceful place for the Wingfeathers.
