“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Season 3 Is Heading to Lucca Comics & Games With New Footage

Grab your sword, pack some ambrosia and hope you don’t attract any monsters along the way, because Camp Half-Blood is heading to Italy.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is set to make a major appearance at this year’s Lucca Comics & Games, with Disney+ bringing Season 3 of the hit series to one of Europe’s largest celebrations of comics, games and pop culture.

And Percy won’t be making the journey alone.

Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri, who star as Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, will all attend the festival alongside series co-creator and executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg and executive producer Dan Shotz. Together, the group will take part in a special “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” presentation that will include previously unseen footage from the upcoming third season.

That should give demigods plenty to look forward to, especially considering where the series is headed next.

Season 3 adapts “The Titan’s Curse,” the third book in Rick Riordan’s original “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. This time, Percy, Grover and their fellow campers are facing a dangerous new quest to save Annabeth and Artemis, goddess of the hunt, from the Titan Atlas. Dafne Keen joins the story as Artemis, while Holt McCallany takes on the role of Atlas.

For longtime readers, “The Titan’s Curse” also represents another important expansion of Percy’s world. The adventure moves beyond the familiar boundaries of Camp Half-Blood and continues building the increasingly dangerous conflict surrounding Percy and his friends. And with the Lucca presentation promising footage audiences haven’t seen before, fans may get their best look yet at how the third book is making the leap from page to screen.

They’ll certainly have plenty of company while doing it.

Lucca Comics & Games runs from October 28 through November 1 inside the historic Tuscan town of Lucca, Italy. The massive celebration draws more than 200,000 fans each year, filling the walled city with comics, games, cosplay, movies and fandom from around the world.

“Percy Jackson” also won’t be the only major family and animation property making the trip. This year’s event will include the Italian premiere of Aardman’s “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom,” while Warner Bros. Pictures Animation will bring its upcoming “The Cat in the Hat” adaptation to the festival. Toei Animation will also present the international premiere of “Star Detective Precure – The Movie!”

But for demigods eagerly waiting to see what awaits Percy, Annabeth and Grover next, there is one particularly important promise coming out of Lucca.

New Season 3 footage is on the way.

Hopefully the journey to Italy is considerably less dangerous than the average Percy Jackson quest.
