Netflix Playground Expands With New “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Numberblocks” Games

The music has played, the demons have been hunted and now it is time to shine.

“KPop Demon Hunters” is expanding into gaming with “KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine,” a new title coming from Netflix Playground on September 29.

While details about exactly what awaits players in “Ready, Set Shine” have yet to be revealed, the new game gives fans another way to step into the increasingly expansive world of “KPop Demon Hunters.” Rather than simply watching the adventure unfold on screen, players will soon get an opportunity to interact with the franchise through Netflix’s growing kids gaming slate.

And “KPop Demon Hunters” isn’t heading into Netflix Playground alone.

Also launching September 29 is “Numberblocks: Hide and Seek,” a new counting game inspired by the popular preschool series. The title brings the educational world of “Numberblocks” into interactive play, giving younger children another way to spend time with the characters while practicing early number skills.

Then, on October 27, “Trash Truck” will get a game of its own.

Together, the three releases show just how broadly Netflix is approaching games for younger audiences. “Numberblocks” naturally lends itself to educational play, “Trash Truck” brings another familiar preschool property into the mix, while “KPop Demon Hunters” offers something for kids ready for a considerably different kind of adventure.

That variety is very much part of Netflix’s larger strategy.

Heather Tilert, Netflix’s vice president of kids and preschool animation series, said the company is working to create a collection of series, films and games that can meet children at different ages and stages of development. That includes everything from spending more time with established characters to discovering new worlds and finding enriching games children will want to revisit.

For Netflix, that also means its growing collection of children’s franchises doesn’t necessarily have to stop when the credits roll. A story children discover through a series or movie can increasingly become something they can play with and interact with as well.

And for “KPop Demon Hunters,” it looks like the next stage is already getting ready to shine.

“KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine” and “Numberblocks: Hide and Seek” launch through Netflix Playground on September 29, followed by the new “Trash Truck” game on October 27.

Better start warming up.
