There are plenty of magical creations found throughout the Wizarding World.
Moving staircases, flying broomsticks, enchanted portraits and spells capable of doing practically anything you could imagine. Yet there is one particular form of magic that even the most talented Hogwarts student might have trouble mastering.
Cake.
Thankfully, Food Network has found plenty of bakers willing to give it a try as “Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking” has officially been renewed for a third season.
After premiering in November 2024 and returning for its sophomore outing one year later, the baking competition has quickly become another increasingly delicious corner of the ever-expanding Wizarding World. Once again, James and Oliver Phelps, known to generations of fans as Fred and George Weasley, will return to host the competition.
Season 3 will shake up the recipe a little with a new tournament-style team format. This time, bakers will compete in teams representing the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
Because apparently simply arguing over which Hogwarts house is the best wasn’t enough. Now cake is involved.
Naturally, the real magic comes from seeing just how far the bakers can push their creations. “Wizards of Baking” has taken the familiar baking competition format and given contestants an entire Wizarding World of creatures, locations, characters and magical objects to transform into edible creations.
It is a combination that has clearly found its audience.
Food Network says the series has connected with viewers by bringing elaborate culinary craftsmanship together with one of entertainment’s most beloved franchises, with the network promising even more ambitious creations, iconic locations and surprises when the competition returns.
Season 3 also arrives during an especially busy time for all things “Harry Potter.”
Warner Bros. is preparing to celebrate 25 years since “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” first brought Hogwarts to movie screens, and the Wizarding World has increasingly been finding new ways to reach fans beyond simply revisiting the original films.
There are games, attractions, merchandise, books, theatrical productions and an upcoming television adaptation. Now, apparently, there is also an increasingly competitive battle for Hogwarts baking supremacy.
It is another example of just how easily the Wizarding World lends itself to different experiences. You don’t necessarily have to tell another story about Harry Potter himself to give fans a reason to return. Sometimes you can simply take a familiar part of the world, mix it with something completely different and see what kind of magic comes out of the oven.
There will be one notable change behind the scenes for the third season. After the first two seasons filmed in the United Kingdom using locations connected to Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, production is moving to Canada for Season 3.
Even with the change in location, Food Network is promising recognizable settings and plenty of magical surprises when the series returns during the fourth quarter of 2026.
With Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin now competing against one another, there is only one question left.
Which Hogwarts house makes the best cake?
