“Forgotten Island” Brings Friendship, Fashion and Ube to Its New Merchandise Collection

A great adventure might take you somewhere completely unexpected, but it is always better when your best friend is along for the journey.

With DreamWorks Animation’s “Forgotten Island” heading into theaters on September 25, Universal is bringing the world of Jo and Raissa beyond the big screen with a new collection of merchandise arriving at BoxLunch, Hot Topic and more. From friendship-inspired backpacks and apparel to books and even a limited-edition ube ice cream, there are plenty of ways for fans to carry a little piece of the adventure home.

And fittingly for a movie centered around Jo and Raissa, friendship is woven throughout much of the collection.

At BoxLunch, fans can find a new “Forgotten Island” Mabuhay T-shirt featuring Jo and Raissa in a tropical-inspired design, alongside a BFF Bracelet mini backpack modeled after Raissa’s backpack from the movie. The design includes embroidered details, a faux sticky note appliqué and a best-friend bracelet charm. Bungi-Tiyanak is also getting some time in the spotlight with a character T-shirt of their own.

Hot Topic is similarly leaning into the film’s characters and friendship theme. Its new Icons mini backpack features Raissa and Jo alongside stars, character graphics and paint-splatter details, while a detachable coin purse and BFF bead bracelet add a few extra touches to the design.

Fans looking for something a little cozier can also find Chibi Character pajama pants covered with Jo, Raissa and other characters from the movie, as well as an oversized Raissa & Jo hoodie. The zip-up hoodie features the two friends across the chest, the “Forgotten Island” logo along the sleeve and wings on the back. Even its drawcords get in on the theme, taking inspiration from friendship bracelets with BFF bead details.

The adventure is also making its way onto bookshelves through Random House Children’s Books. “Forgotten Island: The Deluxe Junior Novelization” and leveled reader “Forgotten Island: Meet Jo and Raissa” will both arrive September 29. The novelization retells Jo and Raissa’s adventure and includes a 16-page full-color insert and poster.

Two more books will follow on November 17 with “Forgotten Island: Best Friends Forever,” a Little Golden Book celebrating the pair’s friendship, and “Forgotten Island: Official Friendship Journal,” an interactive hardcover activity journal.

But perhaps the tastiest way to celebrate the film comes from Magnolia Ice Cream.

Magnolia has partnered with Universal for a limited-edition ube ice cream featuring special “Forgotten Island” packaging, available at Seafood City locations across the United States. Additional flavors are on the way as well, including Macapuno Coconut.

That makes the food collaboration a particularly fun addition to the wider collection. While backpacks, shirts and books allow fans to take home characters and imagery from “Forgotten Island,” ube and macapuno bring another element of the film’s world into the experience in a completely different—and considerably more delicious—way.

“Forgotten Island” stars H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate and Manny Jacinto and arrives in theaters September 25.

The movie might be called “Forgotten Island,” but between BFF bracelets, books, backpacks and a freezer full of purple ice cream, Universal certainly isn’t letting its newest DreamWorks adventure get lost.
