Finn and Jake Are Back for Even More Weird Adventures in “Adventure Time: Side Quests” Season 2 Trailer

There really is no such thing as a simple side quest when Finn and Jake are involved.

What might begin as a small adventure can quickly turn into magic spells, strange creatures and something so wonderfully bizarre that you almost forget what the original mission was in the first place.

And judging by the newly released trailer for Season 2 of “Adventure Time: Side Quests,” Finn and Jake haven’t gotten any better at staying out of trouble.

The animated duo will return for another collection of adventures across the Land of Ooo when “Adventure Time: Side Quests” Season 2 premieres October 2 on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States, followed by its international Cartoon Network debut on October 5.

This time around, those seemingly little quests are bringing some wonderfully strange challenges along with them. Finn and Jake will find themselves wrestling toads, facing off against baby gladiators and becoming tangled in one too many magical spells as they continue exploring the wildest corners of Ooo.

In other words, it sounds exactly like the sort of chaos these two were made for.

“Side Quests” has been built around recapturing the charm and silliness of the earlier “Adventure Time” episodes, returning to Finn and Jake and the smaller adventures that helped make their friendship—and Ooo itself—so much fun to follow. Season 2 appears ready to continue running with that idea, proving that an adventure doesn’t necessarily have to involve saving the entire world to become completely ridiculous.

Sometimes wrestling a toad is more than enough.

The new season will once again bring together plenty of familiar voices from around Ooo. John DiMaggio returns as Jake alongside Sasha Knight as Finn, with Tom Kenny as Ice King, Niki Yang as BMO, Hynden Walch as Princess Bubblegum and Olivia Olson as Marceline.

Behind the adventure is showrunner and executive producer Nate Cash, who previously served as storyboard supervisor on the original “Adventure Time.” Victor Courtright serves as supervising director for Season 2, with Niki Yang, Rose Feduk and Katie Aldworth directing. Art director Nick Cross and composer Matthew Janszen also return as part of the creative team.

For a series called “Side Quests,” the revival of Finn and Jake’s adventures is quickly becoming anything but a little detour.

But that is part of the fun.

“Adventure Time” has always been able to take the smallest idea and send it somewhere unexpected, whether that means stumbling into a magical problem, encountering another strange resident of Ooo or simply letting Finn and Jake be Finn and Jake. Season 2 is giving them another collection of excuses to wander off the main path and see what trouble is waiting there.

“Adventure Time: Side Quests” Season 2 premieres October 2 on Disney+ and Hulu in the United States before arriving internationally on Cartoon Network October 5.

So, come along with Finn and Jake.

Just don’t expect the quest to stay simple for very long.
