Fall Down the Rabbit Hole With New “Alice in Wonderland” Immersive Experience in London

It’s a wondrous world, and soon you can actually step inside it.

Coming off the heels of plenty of Wonderland excitement, fans of Lewis Carroll’s beloved “Alice in Wonderland” are getting another opportunity to follow the White Rabbit. Only this time, you won’t have to imagine what might be waiting at the bottom of the rabbit hole.

A massive new “Alice in Wonderland” immersive experience is opening in London on November 13, inviting families to physically journey through Alice’s wonderfully strange world across 26,000 square feet of familiar characters, locations and, naturally, a little bit of nonsense.

Mad Hatters may be included.

According to Variety, the approximately 90-minute experience will take visitors through ten multi-sensory environments combining theatrical storytelling, live actors and projection mapping to recreate Alice’s journey. Rather than simply looking at sets inspired by Wonderland, guests will move through the story as it unfolds around them.

And there are quite a few familiar stops along the way.

Visitors will be able to venture into the Caterpillar’s den, step inside the Queen’s court and explore the Rabbit’s house as they make their way through Wonderland. Alice won’t be the only familiar face waiting for them, either, with the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts all appearing during the experience.

For a story built around Alice continuously discovering that the next strange thing is somehow even stranger than the last, an immersive experience feels almost ridiculously fitting.

“Alice in Wonderland” has never exactly been a quiet trip from point A to point B. Wonderland is the story. It’s the impossible scale, peculiar inhabitants, nonsensical conversations and feeling that absolutely anything could be waiting around the next corner. Giving visitors the opportunity to move from one environment to another means that sense of discovery doesn’t have to remain trapped on a page or screen.

And, of course, you can’t visit Wonderland without stopping for something sweet.

The experience includes a tea party room serving treats inspired by the book, including cakes designed to represent a white rabbit, red rose and mushroom. Because after spending 90 minutes wandering around Wonderland, sitting down for tea seems like the only sensible thing to do.

Well, relatively sensible.

The new attraction arrives at a particularly fun time for Wonderland fans. Stories inspired by Alice’s bizarre journey continue to find new audiences and new interpretations, reminding us just how much room there still is to play inside a world first imagined generations ago.

But there is something particularly enticing about being able to walk into it yourself.

You aren’t merely watching Alice encounter the Cheshire Cat or enter the Queen’s court. For around 90 minutes, you’re the one wandering through those spaces, encountering characters and wondering what strange thing might be waiting behind the next door.

The “Alice in Wonderland” immersive experience opens November 13 at Dock X in Canada Water, London. Tickets are priced at £26 for adults and start at £19 for children ages 4 and older, with family tickets also available.
