Care Bears Is Stepping Into 2027 With Colorful New Light-Up Shoes

There are plenty of ways to carry a little kindness with you wherever you go. Soon, young Care Bears fans will be able to quite literally walk around with some of their favorite colorful characters.

And yes, the shoes light up.

Care Bears is continuing to expand its growing world of products with a new footwear collection from Leomil, set to launch across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in 2027. The partnership will bring colorful styles inspired by the beloved characters to major retailers, with footwear designed for children and families.

For younger fans, however, there is one feature that may immediately steal the show: light-up soles.

There is something wonderfully nostalgic about light-up shoes. A simple walk suddenly becomes considerably more exciting when every step produces another flash, and pairing that childhood staple with the colorful world of Care Bears feels like a particularly natural match.

The new collection also represents another way Care Bears is continuing to introduce itself to younger generations while longtime fans remain along for the ride. The characters have been inspiring audiences for nearly 45 years, yet Care Bears has continued finding new spaces to inhabit—from toys and entertainment to fashion, lifestyle collaborations and now another expansion into footwear.

“Care Bears has been inspiring fans for nearly 45 years, and we are always excited to see the brand brought to life in new and creative ways,” said Kimberley McIntyre, director of brand management at Authentic Brands Group, noting that Leomil’s established presence in European and Latin American licensed footwear made the company a strong fit for the collaboration.

Leomil licensing director Tsirah Milhado similarly pointed toward the opportunity to combine the company’s footwear experience with the joyful and positive messaging that has helped Care Bears remain recognizable across generations.

That multigenerational appeal has become an increasingly important part of the Care Bears story. Adults who grew up with Cheer Bear, Grumpy Bear, Tenderheart Bear and friends can now share those same characters with children discovering Care-a-Lot for themselves. The products may change along the way, but the colorful characters and messages of kindness, connection and caring remain remarkably familiar.

The new Care Bears footwear collection from Leomil is expected to arrive at major retailers across EMEA and Latin America sometime in 2027, with additional details surrounding individual styles and availability still to come.

Until then, it looks like Care Bears is preparing to put a little more color into every step.
