Adventure is calling once again.
Then again, when you’re Finn and Jake, we’re not entirely sure it ever stops calling.
Earlier this year, fans of “Adventure Time” got to return to the Land of Ooo with the premiere of “Adventure Time: Side Quests,” bringing Finn and Jake back together for a new collection of wonderfully strange adventures. Now we finally know when their next batch of quests will begin.
Season 2 of “Adventure Time: Side Quests” will arrive October 2, with the entire season dropping on Disney+ and Hulu.
While we have already talked quite a bit about the series and its place within the rapidly growing world of “Adventure Time,” the important thing this time around is simple: there are more Finn and Jake adventures coming, and fans won’t have to wait much longer for them.
As its title suggests, “Side Quests” isn’t necessarily interested in sending the duo off to save all of Ooo every time they leave the house. Instead, the series embraces the smaller, stranger and often considerably sillier adventures that have always been part of the charm behind “Adventure Time.”
Of course, “smaller” is a rather relative term in the Land of Ooo.
Season 2 will see Finn and Jake wrestling toads, facing baby gladiators and finding themselves caught up in more than a few magical spells. Basically, another perfectly ordinary collection of days for these two.
At the center of all that chaos remains the friendship between Finn and Jake, with the new season continuing to focus on two best friends who somehow manage to find trouble regardless of how big or small their latest adventure might initially seem.
Sasha Knight returns as Finn alongside John DiMaggio as Jake, with plenty of familiar faces—or voices—also returning to Ooo. Tom Kenny voices the Ice King, Hynden Walch returns as Princess Bubblegum, Olivia Olson as Marceline and Niki Vang as BMO. Nate Cash serves as showrunner and executive producer.
The new season also arrives as the larger world of “Adventure Time” continues to be considerably busier than its original series finale might have once suggested. Between “Distant Lands,” “Fionna and Cake,” “Side Quests” and even more projects ahead, Ooo has proven to be the kind of animated world with seemingly endless corners left to explore.
For now, though, we don’t need another grand adventure.
A few side quests will do just fine.
All episodes of “Adventure Time: Side Quests” Season 2 arrive October 2 on Disney+ and Hulu.
