“Winx Club” Teases New Game Coming in November In Original Style

The magic of the Winx is alive and thriving.

This summer, the popular 2000s-rooted magical girl series from Italy has been creating waves even deeper than its resident Fairy of Waves. From the Netflix release of the second third of the first season of the new reboot, Winx Club: The Magic Is Back, to a newly released visual story (review coming soon), as well as a music video collaboration with chart-topping artist Zara Larsson, it has been an impactful season for the fairies of Alfea as their quest forges on.

While notable, much of parent company Rainbow’s efforts surrounding releases and merchandise have naturally been aligned with the reboot.

However, Rainbow has also shifted its attention back to the first iteration of the series, seamlessly juggling the franchise’s past and present.

The original Winx Club ultimately spanned eight seasons, three feature-length films and its own dedicated spin-off, following Bloom and her friends through years of magical adventures, danger, teenage life and romance.

Despite such an extensive run, there was never a truly conclusive finale for this specific version of the characters and their world. Not that one was necessarily needed. After all, it’s safe to assume there were plenty more adventures fans simply never knew about — including those that could have happened between the events we already saw.

And apparently, there are still more stories waiting to be told.

That appears to be the case with the brand-new, forthcoming video game, Winx Club: Moonlight Quest.

And this one truly seemed to appear out of thin air, with virtually no warning beforehand.

Yet for longtime fans, that makes the surprise even more exciting.

Based on the brief footage shown so far, Moonlight Quest appears to draw particularly from the era between seasons two and three. We see Bloom in her original Magic Winx fairy form while also sporting her classic outfit featuring a cropped two-tone top and bell-bottom-style pants.

It’s a small detail, but one that immediately brings players back to the classic era of Winx Club.

Presently, many specifics surrounding the game have yet to be made public. Outside of its description promising to bring the world of the Winx to life, players will seemingly be able to rediscover memorable locations while questing on an unforgettable adventure alongside the fairies.

Perhaps most interestingly, Moonlight Quest arrives at a time when Rainbow is heavily establishing a new generation of Winx Club through The Magic Is Back.

Rather than leaving the original series behind as the reboot moves forward, Rainbow appears willing to let the franchise’s past and present exist side-by-side — giving newer fans their own version of the Winx while continuing to celebrate the magical world longtime viewers first fell in love with.

With Winx Club: Moonlight Quest currently slated for a November release, chances are longtime Winx fans won’t have much longer to wait before returning to the Alfea of the 2000s.
