“Transformers: CYBERWORLD” Powers Up With Energon Surge in Season 2

The battle between Autobots and Decepticons has taken fans across planets, timelines and more than a few different versions of Cybertron over the past four decades. But in the latest “Transformers” adventure, our favorite bots have found themselves somewhere considerably more unpredictable.

And things are about to get even stranger.

Hasbro is powering-up the next chapter of “Transformers: CYBERWORLD,” with Season 2 now rolling out on the official “Transformers” YouTube channel.

After introducing fans to a mysterious digital realm filled with game-inspired challenges, Season 2 is changing the rules once again with the arrival of Energon Surge.

The new phenomenon is transforming CYBERWORLD itself, unlocking previously unseen locations, new abilities and, naturally, plenty of new dangers for the Autobots and Decepticons to face.

Because apparently being trapped inside a strange virtual world wasn’t complicated enough.

This time around, however, the biggest battles might not simply come from the world surrounding our heroes.

Bumblebee is still struggling with revelations that have completely changed the way he sees his situation. His growing inner turmoil is now being amplified by strange physical changes brought about by Energon Surge, leaving the normally cheerful Autobot in a very different place.

Optimus Prime isn’t exactly having an easy time either.

With his leadership being questioned and old alliances beginning to fracture, Optimus must find a way to reunite his team and uncover the truth behind CYBERWORLD before the mysterious realm manages to tear them apart for good.

Meanwhile, Energon Surge presents another rather important question: Is this strange new power something to fear — or something that can be harnessed?

Considering both Autobots and Decepticons are involved, we have a feeling everyone is going to find out the hard way.

“Season 2 marks an exciting evolution for Transformers: CYBERWORLD. Energon Surge changes everything: the world, the characters, the stakes,” said Alyse D’Antuono, Vice President, Global Brand Strategy, Action Brands at Hasbro.

The digital series brings together Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Elita-1, Megatron, Grimlock and other familiar faces after they awaken inside CYBERWORLD without any answers about how they arrived — or how they are supposed to escape.

Instead, the characters are forced through an ever-changing collection of trials that challenge their abilities, relationships and loyalties.

And like any good “Transformers” adventure, the action isn’t staying confined to the screen.

Hasbro is extending the new Energon Surge storyline into its latest “Transformers: CYBERWORLD” toy line, including Bumblebee Power Spark, Soundwave Deep Sea Explorer and Cyber Changers, giving younger fans another way to continue their own battles after watching the latest episodes.

That screen-to-toy connection has been part of “Transformers” since the franchise first rolled onto the scene in 1984. More than four decades later, the ways fans meet Optimus Prime and company may have changed considerably, but that combination of storytelling, characters and transformation remains at the heart of the franchise.

Only now, the battlefield itself can transform right along with them.

And with Energon Surge spreading across CYBERWORLD, there is once again much more here than meets the eye.
