All aboard!
For generations, children have grown-up alongside one particularly useful little blue engine. From books to television screens, toys and beyond, Thomas the Tank Engine has become one of those rare childhood characters that seemingly never stops finding new passengers.
And now, Thomas is getting ready to meet another generation.
A new trailer has arrived for “Thomas & Friends: Railway Stories,” offering our first look at the newest adventures waiting around the bends and rails of Sodor.
Though the years might keep rolling by, some things never change. Thomas is still just as eager as ever to prove himself as a really useful engine.
In the upcoming series, there is always someone who needs a helping hand—or perhaps a helpful engine—and plenty of problems waiting to be solved. Alongside his friends, Thomas will take on new deliveries, unexpected challenges and adventures that continue to remind young viewers that things are always a little easier when you work together.
And, naturally, there are going to be plenty of songs along the way.
But while the stories and lessons of friendship might feel wonderfully familiar, “Railway Stories” marks another opportunity for Thomas and the residents of Sodor to introduce themselves to an entirely new generation of young fans.
That is something Thomas has gotten rather good at.
The little blue engine’s adventures began on the pages of children’s books before eventually making the leap to television and becoming an international preschool staple. Across the decades, the franchise has changed animation styles, welcomed new characters and found new ways to tell stories, but Thomas, Percy, Gordon and the rest of the railway have continued chugging along.
Now another group of children is getting their ticket to Sodor.
“Thomas & Friends: Railway Stories” arrives on YouTube September 17 before making its way to Netflix September 30.
Until then, take a look at the new trailer and get ready to head back down the tracks.
Because Thomas has another generation to meet.
