“Stillwater” Returns for a Heartwarming Fifth Season on Apple TV

After four award-winning seasons, Apple TV is bringing audiences back into the gentle world of Stillwater as the beloved animated series prepares to return for its fifth season later this month.

The newest season of Stillwater will arrive August 21 with five all-new episodes, continuing the adventures of siblings Karl, Addy and Michael alongside their rather extraordinary next-door neighbor, Stillwater.

And while the challenges these siblings encounter might seem small from the outside, Stillwater has always understood just how big those everyday moments can feel when you’re a kid.

Based on the bestselling Scholastic Zen book series from Jon J Muth, the series follows the three siblings as they navigate the everyday ups and downs of childhood. Whether they are dealing with their feelings, facing something unfamiliar or simply trying to understand the world around them, Stillwater is there to offer a different way of looking at things.

Through stories, gentle humor and his own example, the wise panda helps Karl, Addy and Michael slow things down, understand what they are feeling and find the tools they need to work through whatever might be waiting for them.

That thoughtful approach has helped Stillwater stand apart within the growing world of children’s animation.

Rather than creating larger-than-life conflicts or sending its characters on massive adventures, the series finds its stories much closer to home. Mindfulness, breathing exercises and simple everyday practices become part of the adventure, giving young viewers ideas they can carry with them long after an episode ends.

It is an approach that has certainly connected.

Across its run, Stillwater has earned both Peabody and Daytime Emmy recognition, with its fifth season continuing a series that has quietly become one of the longest-running pieces of Apple TV’s growing kids and family lineup.

The series is produced by Gaumont and Scholastic Entertainment and was developed through Apple TV’s changemakers initiative in collaboration with awareness and intention expert Mallika Chopra.

Season five also arrives as Apple continues expanding its children’s animation slate with a mix of original stories, familiar characters and adaptations of popular books.

Recent and returning offerings include Wonder Pets: In the City, WondLa, Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, Shape Island, The Sisters Grimm, BE@RBRICK, Goldie, Frog and Toad and Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, among many others.

But for families looking for something a little quieter, Stillwater is ready to welcome them back.
