“Minions & Monsters” Brings One of Summer’s Biggest Family Hits Home with Packed Bonus Features

One of this summer’s hottest family films is getting ready to make its way home.

Following its successful theatrical run, Illumination’s Minions & Monsters arrives on digital platforms August 11 before making its 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD debut on September 8 through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The latest adventure in the Despicable Me universe takes audiences back to Hollywood’s golden age as the Minions chase movie stardom, only to accidentally unleash monsters upon the world. What follows is a hilarious, action-packed adventure as the franchise’s newest characters join the beloved yellow troublemakers in a race to save the planet from the chaos they created.

Alongside the film, fans will have plenty of exclusive bonus content to explore. Viewers can go behind the scenes with Minions Take on Hollywood, showcasing how Illumination recreated classic Hollywood through story development, animation and character design, while Casting Minions & Monsters spotlights the voice talent that helped bring the film’s colorful cast to life.

Music also takes center stage in Hollywood Sound, where composer John Powell breaks down how he crafted a sweeping score inspired by the Golden Age of cinema.

Families looking for hands-on fun can create their own Irene Blob Monster Slime with a step-by-step tutorial from slime creator Snoopslimes, while Movie-Making Minions Style teaches viewers how to create their own Minions-inspired monster movie using classic flipbook animation techniques.

The home release also includes a collection of How to Draw tutorials led by Illumination’s head of story, Nima Azarba, featuring lessons on drawing the Minions and many of the film’s newest monster characters, including James, Henry, Ed, Max, Dort, Goomi, Irene, Howard and Phillip.
