Mattel Expands Its WWE Universe with Major AAA Partnership

As Mattel continues growing one of the toy industry’s most successful sports entertainment portfolios, the company is adding another legendary wrestling brand to its lineup.

Announced during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Mattel and WWE have unveiled a new multi-year global licensing agreement that expands Mattel’s WWE action figure line to include Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA), one of Mexico’s most iconic wrestling promotions.

Beginning in fall 2027, fans can look forward to an all-new collection of AAA-inspired action figures celebrating the promotion’s larger-than-life superstars, signature masks and colorful storytelling. The new lineup further expands Mattel’s WWE portfolio while introducing the excitement of lucha libre to collectors and wrestling fans around the world.

The partnership arrives as WWE continues integrating AAA following its acquisition of the promotion in 2025, creating new opportunities to celebrate one of professional wrestling’s most influential brands through consumer products.

Among the first characters joining the line will be fan favorites including Psycho Clown, El Hijo del Vikingo, La Parka and Mr. Iguana. To commemorate the announcement, Mattel Creations also unveiled a made-to-order Mr. Iguana action figure during San Diego Comic-Con, giving collectors an early preview of what’s to come.

For more than three decades, AAA has helped define lucha libre, launching the careers of legendary performers including Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio and Penta while building a passionate global fanbase. That momentum has only continued to grow, with recent events drawing millions of viewers and expanding the promotion’s international reach.

The collaboration further demonstrates how Mattel continues investing in its WWE action figure brand, building beyond traditional WWE Superstars to celebrate the broader world of professional wrestling. As one of the company’s flagship collector lines continues to evolve, the addition of AAA opens the door for an entirely new generation of iconic characters to join collectors’ shelves.

Additional details surrounding the AAA action figure collection will be announced closer to its fall 2027 launch.
