“Hexed” Adds Even More Magic With Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins

“Hexed” Adds Even More Magic With Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins

The magical world of Disney’s Hexed is continuing to come together.

While we have been following the development of Disney’s next original animated feature since it was first revealed, we are now starting to inch closer towards its Thanksgiving opening. And with just a few months left before audiences can finally enter this all-new magical world, Disney has revealed even more of the talent helping bring it to life.

As part of the massive wave of announcements coming out of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, two additional cast members have officially joined Hexed.

And they are certainly interesting additions.

Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins are joining previously announced stars Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones for Disney’s newest original animated adventure, bringing along two rather colorful characters.

Foster will lend her voice to a devious witch queen, giving the two-time Academy Award winner what sounds like a rather fun villainous role.

The casting also marks something of a homecoming for Foster, whose early career included several projects with Disney during the 1970s. This included Napoleon and Samantha and the original Freaky Friday, making Hexed another chapter in a relationship with Disney that stretches back decades.

Though Walton Goggins might have landed the more unexpected character of the two.

Goggins will voice a three-eyed cat by the rather incredible name of Beef Roger Crummchuk.

Yes, you read that correctly.

And while we don’t know much about what role this three-eyed feline will play within the larger story just yet, between a devious witch queen and a magical cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk, the world of Hexed is certainly starting to sound more colorful by the announcement.

For those who might have missed our previous coverage, Hexed follows a teenage oddball and her Type A mother whose lives are turned upside down when they discover that the very weirdness that has always made the teen different is actually hidden magic.

That discovery transports the pair into an entirely new world where magic is able to run free.

Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones will lead the film as the daughter and mother at the center of the adventure, with Foster and Goggins now giving us our first better look at some of the magical faces they may encounter along the way.

And there is still plenty about Hexed that Disney is keeping under wraps.

While we now know that Foster’s witch queen will be devious, we don’t know exactly what she wants or how she becomes tangled up with our mother-daughter duo. The same can be said for Goggins’ three-eyed companion and whether Beef will be a friend, foe or something somewhere in the magical middle.

Behind the scenes, Hexed will also mark a major moment for Josie Trinidad, who is making her feature directorial debut after serving as head of story on Ralph Breaks the Internet and Zootopia. She is directing alongside Moana 2 co-director and Encanto head of story Jason Hand, with Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones producing.

Though perhaps what continues to make Hexed particularly interesting is that this isn’t another return to an established Disney world.

It is something new.

Disney has spent the last several years balancing its massive legacy franchises with new characters and stories. And while familiar worlds certainly aren’t going anywhere, Hexed gives Walt Disney Animation Studios another opportunity to introduce audiences to a completely original world, family and collection of characters.

Now, with Thanksgiving getting closer, that magical world is finally beginning to take shape.

And if a devious Jodie Foster witch queen and Walton Goggins playing a three-eyed cat named Beef Roger Crummchuk are any indication, Hexed could be one wonderfully strange adventure.

Hexed arrives in theaters November 25.
