“Masters of the Universe” Continues Its Journey From Toy Shelves To Streaming This Week

“Masters of the Universe” Continues Its Journey From Toy Shelves To Streaming This Week

The power of Grayskull is preparing to reach even more homes.

After bringing one of Mattel’s most iconic franchises to the big screen earlier this summer, Masters of the Universe is now making the leap to streaming, giving longtime fans and a new generation alike another opportunity to experience Prince Adam’s latest adventure.

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Masters of the Universe will begin streaming exclusively on Prime Video on July 22, continuing the next chapter of a franchise that has entertained audiences across toys, television, comics and film for more than four decades.

Inspired by the legendary 1980s toy line and animated series, the film follows Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), who has spent years separated from his home of Eternia. When destiny calls him back, Adam must embrace the power of He-Man and unite with allies including Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan, better known as Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), to stop the villainous Skeletor (Jared Leto) from conquering his world.

The streaming debut also marks the latest step in a much larger trend shaping today’s entertainment industry.

Rather than existing solely as toy brands, many of the industry’s most recognizable properties are continuing to evolve into complete multimedia franchises. From new theatrical films and streaming releases to television series, publishing and fresh waves of consumer products, beloved brands are finding new ways to reach audiences across multiple platforms.

For Masters of the Universe, that journey has been especially visible throughout the year. Alongside the film’s theatrical release, Mattel introduced new toy collections inspired by the adventure, allowing fans to bring characters like He-Man and Skeletor from the screen back into their own imaginative play. Now, with the movie arriving on Prime Video, families who discovered the latest figures this spring and early summer can finally experience the story that inspired them from the comfort of home.

The move also reflects the growing importance of streaming as the next destination for major family and franchise films. While theaters continue delivering the excitement of the big-screen experience, streaming services allow these adventures to reach even broader audiences, giving longtime fans the chance to revisit favorite moments while introducing timeless heroes to viewers experiencing Eternia for the very first time.

As toy-inspired storytelling continues expanding beyond store shelves, Masters of the Universe demonstrates how classic brands can continue evolving for new generations—proving that the power of imagination remains just as strong whether it’s found in an action figure, on the big screen or through a family’s next movie night.

Masters of the Universe begins streaming exclusively on Prime Video on July 22.
