LEGO Celebrates the Enduring Legacy of “Shrek” With New Collectible Minifigures Series

The celebrations for one of animation’s most beloved franchises are showing no signs of slowing down.

Following the 25th anniversary of the original Shrek film and with another big-screen adventure waiting on the horizon, LEGO is taking fans back to the swamp with an all-new Collectible Minifigures series dedicated entirely to the DreamWorks Animation classic.

Arriving on September 1, the LEGO Shrek Collectible Minifigures Series brings together 12 characters from across the franchise, giving longtime fans and younger audiences another way to celebrate the humor, heart and unforgettable cast that helped make the films a defining part of early 2000s animation.

The collection includes Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Pinocchio, Gingy, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Thelonious, the Big Bad Wolf, Merlin, Lord Farquaad, the Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming. Many of the characters also come with accessories inspired by memorable moments from the films, including Lord Farquaad’s Magic Mirror, Gingy’s lollipop and several of the Three Blind Mice spread throughout the assortment.

Fiona is joined by a miniature Donkey figure, while other releases place the spotlight on characters rarely featured in major LEGO collections. The inclusion of Thelonious, Merlin and the Big Bad Wolf helps the lineup extend beyond the franchise’s central heroes and villains, creating a broader celebration of the strange and colorful personalities found throughout Far Far Away.

As with other LEGO Collectible Minifigures releases, each character will be sold individually inside a mystery box. Fans will not know which figure they have received until opening the package, although compatible scanning tools may help collectors identify the character inside before purchasing. Each box will retail for $4.99 in the United States.

The series also arrives only months after the release of the larger LEGO Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots set, further expanding the franchise’s presence inside LEGO’s 2026 lineup. Together, the releases reflect the renewed excitement surrounding Shrek as DreamWorks continues celebrating the property’s legacy while preparing audiences for its next era.

More than two decades after Shrek first left his swamp and unwillingly set out on a fairy-tale adventure, the franchise remains a major part of animation culture. Its characters, jokes and instantly recognizable moments continue reaching audiences through films, streaming, merchandise and the countless memes that have helped keep the series visible for a new generation.

That lasting popularity has also given companies new opportunities to revisit the franchise through products aimed at both children and the adults who grew up watching the original films. The new minifigure collection taps directly into both audiences, offering younger fans characters for imaginative play while giving longtime collectors detailed tributes to some of the franchise’s most memorable personalities.

With Shrek 5 expected to bring the characters back to theaters in 2027, LEGO’s latest release adds to the growing momentum surrounding the property. Rather than remaining a nostalgic favorite from the early 2000s, Shrek is once again becoming an active entertainment franchise with new films, collectibles and celebrations introducing the world of Far Far Away to another generation.
