French animation continues gaining ground with audiences around the world, and one of the country’s biggest modern children’s series is expanding its presence in the United States once again.
Cartoon Network has acquired the third season of Grizzy & the Lemmings for its U.S. channel, bringing another round of chaotic woodland antics to viewers beginning this month. The deal gives the French-produced comedy an even stronger foothold in the American market as the series approaches a decade on screens.
Created by French animation studio HARI, Grizzy & the Lemmings follows the endless rivalry between Grizzy, a grumpy bear determined to enjoy the comforts of a park ranger’s home, and a fearless group of lemmings whose elaborate games repeatedly turn his quiet life into complete chaos.
Built around fast-paced, dialogue-free slapstick, the series has been able to travel easily across languages and territories. Its visual comedy has helped it connect with children and families across traditional television, streaming platforms, free ad-supported services and digital video, allowing the show to become one of France’s most recognizable modern animated exports.
The Cartoon Network acquisition arrives as the franchise continues expanding internationally. France Télévisions has recommissioned the series for a fifth season, with presales secured through the BBC, Warner Bros. Discovery and Super RTL. Warner Bros. Discovery has also renewed the first three seasons for its channels across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
Season five will take Grizzy and the lemmings beyond their familiar wilderness setting and into time itself. The new episodes will introduce time-traveling adventures spanning the age of dinosaurs and recognizable moments from history, giving the characters new eras and environments to disrupt with their signature brand of mayhem.
The continued growth of Grizzy & the Lemmings reflects the increasingly visible role French studios are playing within international children’s entertainment. While animation from the United States and Japan has historically dominated global conversation, French productions have steadily built wider audiences through distinctive visual storytelling, strong international partnerships and concepts designed to translate across cultural and language barriers.
For Grizzy & the Lemmings, the absence of dialogue has become one of its greatest strengths. Children can understand the central rivalry, comedy and escalating disasters without relying on translated scripts, making the series accessible to viewers in markets around the world.
That accessibility has helped the show build an expansive cross-platform audience. The series regularly ranks among the top three programs on the BBC, France Télévisions and Super RTL and generates more than two billion YouTube views each year. It has also appeared among Netflix’s Top 10 series for children ages six and older, including in the United States, where viewers can additionally find it across Roku, Prime Video and Pluto TV.
As the series prepares to celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2027, its return to Cartoon Network demonstrates how far the franchise has traveled from its French origins. What began as a simple comedic battle between a bear and a group of lemmings has grown into an internationally recognized property reaching audiences across nearly every major form of children’s media.
The deal also marks another milestone for HARI as the studio continues building franchises capable of competing on the global stage. With new episodes arriving in the United States, another season moving forward and international broadcasters continuing their support, Grizzy & the Lemmings shows how French animation is no longer simply traveling abroad—it is becoming a lasting part of the worldwide children’s entertainment landscape.
