DreamWorks Releases Full Trailer for “Forgotten Island” Ahead of September Debut

Friendship has always been at the heart of some of DreamWorks Animation’s most beloved stories.

From the bond between Hiccup and Toothless in “How to Train Your Dragon” to the unlikely partnership of Shrek and Donkey and the touching relationship between Roz and Brightbill in “The Wild Robot,” some of the studio’s most memorable adventures have ultimately been about the people we choose to stand beside.

Now, DreamWorks is preparing to tell another story about friendship—one that comes at a moment many viewers may find all too familiar.

In the newly released trailer for “Forgotten Island,” audiences are introduced to Jo and Raissa, two lifelong best friends preparing to head down different paths after graduating high school. Like many friendships that face the uncertainty of major life changes, the pair find themselves standing at a crossroads as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.

But before they can say goodbye, everything changes.

After discovering a mysterious portal, Jo and Raissa are transported to the magical island of Nakali, a fantastical world inspired by Filipino mythology and packed with legendary creatures, hidden dangers and unforgettable adventures.

What begins as an incredible journey quickly becomes something much more personal.

As the pair search for a way home, they discover that returning may come at an unimaginable cost—the memories of their friendship itself.

That emotional premise helps set “Forgotten Island” apart from many fantasy adventures. While audiences can expect magical creatures, colorful worlds and high-stakes action, the true conflict appears rooted in something much more universal: holding onto the people who matter most as life begins pulling us in different directions.

The film also represents another major step forward in bringing Filipino-inspired stories and mythology to mainstream animation. Drawing upon creatures and legends passed down through generations, “Forgotten Island” introduces audiences to a rich collection of folklore while centering a story about family, identity and connection.

Created by the filmmaking team behind the acclaimed “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” the film combines breathtaking fantasy with an emotional coming-of-age narrative that explores how friendships evolve as childhood gives way to adulthood.

Because sometimes the greatest adventure isn’t defeating a monster.

Sometimes it’s finding a way to hold onto the people who helped shape who you are.
