Disney’s Live-Action “Moana” Sets Sail With New Song “Along The Way”

Disney is inviting fans back across the ocean with a brand-new musical adventure.

Ahead of the theatrical release of the live-action Moana on July 10, Disney has officially released the film’s newest original song, “Along The Way.” Written by acclaimed composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, the track brings together three familiar voices from the franchise: Catherine Laga’aia, who portrays Moana in the upcoming film, Dwayne Johnson as Maui and Auli’i Cravalho, who originally voiced Moana in both animated films.

The release gives fans their latest look at the musical direction of the live-action adaptation while also celebrating the connection between the franchise’s past and future. Alongside the song, Disney has also released a new music video and behind-the-scenes featurette showcasing the development and recording process behind the track.

The musical journey does not stop there.

Disney has confirmed that the Moana Original Soundtrack will arrive on June 26, featuring songs from the beloved animated film alongside the new addition, “Along The Way.” Fans looking for even more music can look forward to a Deluxe Edition releasing on July 8, followed by the film’s original score on July 10. Vinyl editions of the soundtrack will also be available for collectors beginning July 10.

Adding another layer to the celebration of Pacific culture and music, Disney has also announced Moana: Voices Across The Ocean, an inspired-by album arriving July 31. Executive produced by Dwayne Johnson, Lauren Hashian, Tiana Nonosina Liufau and Kayla Fa’amaligi, the collection will feature original music from artists representing multiple Pacific Island cultures, including Stan Walker, Dinah Jane, Iam Tongi, Paula Fuga, Maoli and Common Kings, with additional artists expected to be announced at a later date.
