Rainbow’s “Mermaid Magic” Releases New Poster Ahead of Second Season

Get ready to make a splash back into Mertropia with Merlinda and her friends as their magical mermaid adventure resumes.

With the summer heat rising, what better way is there to cool off than with an ocean-focused animated series from the Italian animation studio Rainbow, the company behind the popular 2000s magical girl franchise Winx Club.

The first season of Mermaid Magic debuted on Netflix in 2024. Throughout the season, fans followed Merlinda, Sasha, and Nerissa as they journeyed from their underwater kingdom to the human world in search of the magical pearls needed to sustain their home. Along the way, they faced the threat of the pirate Barbarossa while also forming friendships with siblings Tyler and Celia.

With its focus on friendship, magic, and environmental awareness, the series quickly made a splash with audiences eager to see what comes next for these characters and their world.

While Rainbow had previously confirmed that the second season would arrive sometime this year, the studio had remained quiet regarding specific details surrounding the next installment. That changed with the recent release of a brand-new key visual.

The newly released artwork not only showcases the three mermaids, but also teases the introduction of a new character who will likely play a major role in the next chapter of the story. Notably, the visual also introduces a new tagline for the series: Guardians of the Deep.

While there is currently little context surrounding the meaning behind the tagline, it can likely be inferred that the girls will take on a larger role as protectors of both their underwater world and Morton Bay, their second home on land.

Though fans currently only have a refreshed visual to reference, it is clear that Rainbow is continuing to expand its fantasy-driven storytelling as Mermaid Magic prepares to dive back into its next underwater adventure.
