“RED BULL SOAPBOX RACE” PREMIERING TUESDAY, APRIL 29 AT 9PM ET/PT
High-octane races filled with outrageous obstacles unfold when Discovery Channel and Red Bull join forces for the all-new series, RED BULL SOAPBOX RACE, premiering on Tuesday, April 29 at 9PM ET/PT. Hosted by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. and motorsports announcer Mike Bagley, the series features amateur teams as they design and build one-of-a-kind, gravity-powered soapbox racers that compete – and crash – on intricate, downhill courses.
“From beginning to end, this project has been high energy and fun to be a part of,” said Earnhardt Jr. “We hope everyone at home enjoys watching as much as much as we enjoyed hosting.”
Each episode of the wildly entertaining series focuses on a competition in a different city from around the world, including London, Des Moines, Dallas, Edmonton, Johannesburg, Madrid and Sao Paolo. Everyday people will transform into daredevil engineers as they battle to be the fastest to the bottom of the nearly half-mile course. No two events are the same – every track presents distinct challenges, from water features to intimidating “bone rattler” and “final kicker” sections. Teams are judged not only on speed, but also on creativity and showmanship. Winners will take home a trophy along with the ultimate bragging rights.
