This is exactly what the kids want, to be able to follow their favorite characters as they get older and it looks like we are going to get it as we are going to get a new series that is inspired by the Disney Jr. animated series Vampirina. The new show will be following a tween version of the character that is leaving Transylvania to go to a performing arts boarding school while she keeps her vampire secret. This will not be so easy though as her father has gotten her a ghostly roommate to live with her at school and keep tabs on her. We do know we are also going to get the characters of Sophie, Elijah, Demi and Britney. Some of these characters are new to us so it should be interesting how this plays out for the show, but this is going to be a lot of fun to watch. We will make sure to keep you up to date with any new Vampirina updates and you can find this fun interview we did Vampirina Ballerina on Disney Junior Author Interview with Anne Marie Pace.
“Vampirina” (working title) follows a tween vampire girl who leaves the safety of Transylvania to attend a performing arts boarding school. Living amongst humans for the first time, she pursues her passion for music while keeping her vampire secret, something that’s made more challenging when her overprotective father charges an overzealous ghost to live with her at the school. The series is based on the books written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, and inspired by the Disney Jr. animated series “Vampirina” from Chris Nee.
The series stars newcomer Kenzi Richardson as Vee, Jiwon Lee (“Rise Up, Sing Out”) as Sophie, Shaun Dixon (“The Neighborhood”) as Elijah, Milo Maharlika (“Les Miserables” Broadway National Tour) as Demi and newcomer Faith Hedley as Britney.
Randi Barnes serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tim Federle and Bronwyn North-Reist are executive producers. Kimberly McCullough directed and executive produced the pilot.
