My Oni Girl is coming to Netflix on May 24th to answer the question of what would happen if you repressed your emotions, and it had visible consequences? People who try and hide their true emotions risk being transformed into an oni, or mythical demon. My Oni Girl follows the story of Hiiragi, a boy who does not like to say no, and Tsumugi and oni girl who enjoys sharing her feelings. With this unusual friendship they will try to learn more about themselves and what turns humans into oni.
The long-awaited fourth feature-length film and latest work from Studio Colorido tells the story of a boy and an oni (demon) girl.
This film will be directed by Tomotaka Shibayama, who, after working for Studio Ghibli, has participated in many TV commercials and film works at Studio Colorido, where he made his feature-length directorial debut, “A Whisker Away.”Yearning to get along with others and not be disliked, first-year high school student Hiiragi finds himself unable to say no whenever someone requests something of him.
One summer day, while unsuccessfully carrying out yet another request, he encounters an oni girl named Tsumugi, who has come to the human world to search for her mother.
She does whatever she pleases and is the complete opposite of Hiiragi.
