Pretty Freekin Scary is coming to Disney Channel on June 15th and now there is some artwork as well as a teaser for the show, and it has us really excited. We get Eliana Su’a as Frankie Ripp, the lead on the show based on the book series, as well as Pretty, played by Kyan Samuels, and Scary, played by Leah Mei Gold, who are Frankie’s Underworld companions. We also get to see Yonas Kibreab, who playes Remy, Frankie’s little brother and Emma Shannon who stars as Nyx, who we don’t really know much about at this point.
Frankie Ripp had a great life, until an accident, where she didn’t, but she is able to talk her way out of staying in the Underworld, by helping out the Grim Reaper, while also dealing with Middle School. The Grim Reaper though sends her back with two new companions, Pretty and Scary, to make sure everything goes according to plan. Based on the trailer, it seems that Frankie has some sorts of powers as well that may help her in her jobs for the Grim Reaper, but all this has to be done while keeping things on the low with family and friends.
We love how this books to television conversion is going so far, and while there may be a few differences here and there, the story is solid and there is a bunch of material to work with.
You can also check out our interview with Tristan Michael Brown, who plays the character of Carson in Pretty Freekin Scary.
Fourteen-year-old Frankie Ripp had the perfect life – a great family, annoying little brother, a popular boyfriend and a BFF she could always count on. However, her life took a surprising turn after an unfortunate incident. After some heated debate in the Underworld with the Grim Reaper herself, Frankie is forced to navigate life with her new Underworld guardians, Pretty and Scary…in the most challenging setting of all…Middle School. Pretty freekin scary, huh?
