Disney has announced a new DCOM or Original Movie with The Slumber Party starting Darby Camp, Emmy Liu-Wang, Valentina Herrera, Dallas Liu, Alex Cooper Cohen and Ramon Rodriquez that is based on the book The Sleepover by Jen Malone. While it probably won’t follow the book exactly, having the source material does give us a little bit more to go by in terms of story. The movie description tells us that The Slumber Party tells us the aftermath of a birthday party hypnotism that has gone a little crazy as BFFs Megan and Paige along with soon to be stepsister Veronica as they have no idea what happened the night before. The big question though is what the heck has happened to the birthday girl, Anna Maria? The movie and the book do talk about the same highlights of the baby ducks, the shaved eyebrow and the hoodie that Megan has. The movie tells us the hoodie belongs to the “class hottie” while the book classifies him as “class bad boy” so we will see how that goes.
While the book is compared to The Hangover, the movie may have a few different things happen or maybe just a few things tweaked for the format, but it seems like it is going to make a great movie to watch. We get a little more on the hypnotism in the book description with the magician being arranged by Veronica to impress the rest of the girls and the fact that they need to find Anna Marie (Maria) before parent pick-up time. The Slumber Party seems like a total hit and maybe even something that parents can watch with the teenagers.
