Sneakerella is such a good idea as we get a reimagined for the sneaker heads (and others) version of Cinderella. From what we have seen so far it looks like we will get most of the elements of Cinderella as his stepfather and stepbrothers make it hard for El to really shine in the sneaker game. He will have an opportunity though to make it big in the game as he meets Kira King and gets to show off his sneaker designs.
The cast includes: Chosen Jacobs (El), Lexi Underwood (Kira King), Devyn Nekoda (Sami), John Salley (Darius King), Bryan Terrell Clark (Trey), Kolton Stewart (Zelly), Hayward Leach (Stacy), Juan Chioran (Gustavo), Robyn Alomar (Liv King), and Yvonne Senat Jones (Denise King). We will be looking forward to Sneakerella when it starts streaming on Disney+ on premieres Feb. 18.
We hope that they will really do their research though and we get some real sneaker information in the show as some of the designed sneakers were a little above and beyond.
Set in the avant-garde street-sneaker subculture of New York City, “Sneakerella” is a high-energy, music-driven movie that puts a contemporary twist on the “Cinderella” fairy tale.
El is an aspiring sneaker designer from Queens who works as a stock boy in the shoe store that once belonged to his late mother. He hides his artistic talent from his overburdened stepfather and two mean-spirited stepbrothers who constantly thwart any opportunity that comes his way. When El meets Kira King, the fiercely independent daughter of legendary basketball star and sneaker tycoon Darius King, sparks fly as the two bond over their mutual affinity for sneakers. With a little nudge from his best friend and a sprinkle of Fairy Godfather magic, El finds the courage to use his talent to pursue his dream of becoming a ‘legit’ sneaker designer in the industry. El is now ready to lace up and dream big.
The original movie “Sneakerella” is coming soon to Disney+.
