We were lucky to talk to Hailey Nicole Ralston as she gets a chance to discuss her career, her family and what she has been working on in the industry.
Best known for her lead roles as Destiny Wickham in the upcoming Sci-fi television series “Time Girl”. She has also appeared in the Fox Searchlight Pictures 2021 film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” the HBO television series “The Righteous Gemstones”, “The Black Phone” An adaptation of a short story by New York Times Best Seller JOE HILL and a Nickelodeon Musical along with plans to begin filming a mini-movie “Meet The Meows” where she plays the role of Gweni. She recently wrote, directed, acting, and plays one of the principal actors as Jenna in a short film called “The Creature” She is currently working on her first original song, which should be released before next year.
BSCKids: We are excited to hear all about your role of Destiny Wickham on the upcoming series Time Girl. Tell us a bit about your character and the movie itself.
Hailey Nicole Ralston: So far, we have had tremendous success in pitching the project. Although we haven’t started filming the real thing yet, we have been working everyday in order to prepare for our roles. I have even had the pleasure to write and produce an original song for the soundtrack of the show. As for my role, Destiny Wickham is a smart, loving, and sarcastic 17 year old. She is a pretty normal teenager until she faces some major problems. In the series, Time Girl, Destiny faces an alien attack and ends up being abducted. Without spoiling too much, I will say one last thing… her whole life changes as she trains to become a time girl warrior on another planet.
So what can you tell us about this Nickelodeon Musical you have been working on? What about “The Black Phone”? What characters do you play?
I played a featured role in an upcoming Nickelodeon musical series, title to be announced soon. This series is about a group of mega-talented freshmen at the most elite music performance boarding school in the country who compete to perform at the year end talent showcase. The scripted music series will feature original music in every episode. My character is multi-talented but focuses on dance.
I played a featured role in an upcoming feature film, “The Black Phone”. It is an adaptation of a short story by New York Times Best Seller Joe Hill (Stephen King’s son). It is directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Blumhouse Productions/Universal Pictures. “The Black Phone” is set to have a release date of January 28, 2022.
What types of films do you enjoy working on the most? Do you have any issues with Horror films and working them?
My favorite type of film to work on is actually horror! I love watching scary movies but being in them is a whole new level of thrill and excitement! I have zero issues with filming horror projects, I enjoy them very much.
Of all the projects you have worked on or are working on, what is your favorite behind the scenes fun story you call tell us?
My favorite has to be Nickelodeon. I met so many amazing people during the month that we filmed. A little behind the scenes story is that when I first got my role upgraded, I had no idea what I was getting myself into – aka lots of dancing and a few stunts. Therefore, there are some pretty funny clips of my reactions to some of my assignments… I will be posting them once the show airs.

What is your favorite thing about living in North Carolina?
My favorite thing about living in NC is that my hometown of Charlotte keeps everyone close together and gives us lots of opportunities to make friends.
Tell us about your relationship with your sister? What has been your favorite time with your sister this past year?
My sister has Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheelchair. Cerebral means having to do with the brain. Palsy means weakness or problems with using the muscles. This means that she has set-backs and can’t do a lot of things that I can do. Even though this prevents us from having the “normal/typical sister relationship”, we persevere and enjoy the things that we can do. We focus on the good. Brianna has taught me to be a kind and caring person. She has taught me to be ambitious in everything that I do and never give up. I honestly don’t think I would be where I am acting-wise without her constant encouragement. Over this past year, she has helped me to develop my love for helping others as she does volunteer work with me!
We want to know all about your work on “The Creature” and how you were able to hold so many important parts of the process.
Here is the plot – When Jenna’s younger sister, Jade, goes missing, she gets ready to face her worst nightmare, a creature that emerges at night preying on the young kids of Ridgecrest, California. On the search for her sister, Jenna bands together with her best friend, Emma. Throughout this horrifying night, the sisters must overcome their fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty creature who leaves a mark after each kid the creature takes.
I star in the film alongside young actress Riley Madison Fuller. I am also the writer and director. Writing “The Creature” was a fairly quick and easy process. Everything just flowed out of my brain and went straight into the script. I had no previous “idea” or “plot” or anything planned out. I just wrote what came to mind. I had to bring in a co-writer and editor to help me out after the first draft. But it was a super fun and unique process! As for being a leading actor in the film, that should be easy as I am an actress and I am used to acting! I am not sure how directing will go but I have plenty of professionals and friends to help me out in the process!
Tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I go to an arts high school where I major in musical theater… not film!
If you could guest star on a current running series right now, which one would it be and why?
I would guest star in Grey’s Anatomy because I have been a fan for years. I absolutely love this show!!!
For all your upcoming work, tell us in a sentence why we should be tuning in to each one?
All of my projects are a variety of genres, therefore, anyone would love at least one whether it be a musical on Nickelodeon, a horror movie in theaters, or a comedy on HBO.
Thanks to Hailey Nicole Ralston for taking the time out of her schedule to talk to us, we are looking forward to all of her upcoming projects!
