This week we get the one-hour series premiere of Secrets of Sulphur Springs on Friday, January 15th on Disney Channel and we were lucky enough to get a chance to talk to Landon Gordon in an exclusive interview about the show.
Landon Gordon stars as Wyatt, Griffin’s younger brother, and Zoey’s fraternal twin, in Disney Channel’s first-ever time-travel mystery series “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”
BSCKids: Landon tell us a bit about your role on Secrets of Sulphur Springs?
Landon Gordon: In Secrets of Sulphur Springs, I play Wyatt Campbell, Griffin’s younger brother, and Zoey’s twin brother. The Campbell family has moved to the Tremont, an old abandoned hotel. Wyatt’s dad has big plans to fix it up. Wyatt and Zoey are pretty sure the hotel is haunted and when no one believes them, they decide to try and find out for themselves.
Do you feel like you have anything in common with your character?
I’m actually a lot like Wyatt! Wyatt is funny and adventurous. He can get scared sometimes, but we all do, right? I have two brothers in real life, so I know what it’s like to have a big family and siblings, just like Wyatt.
What makes Secrets of Sulphur Springs different from other shows on Disney?
Secrets of Sulphur Springs isn’t like anything you have seen on Disney Channel. It’s mysterious and just a little bit spooky. But there are some funny parts, too. Secrets of Sulphur Springs is a show for the whole family, even for adults that don’t have kids!
Do you have any fun behind the scenes stories while filming you can tell us about?
There was a hurricane in New Orleans when we were filming the show. We were all staying in an old hotel that some people say is haunted. The power went out and my twin sister in the show, (Madeleine McGraw), and my mom in the show (Kelly Frye), and I made scary movies in the long dark halls of the hotel. I think we were the only hotel guests that were having such a great time with no power!
If you could guest star on another Disney Show which one would it be and why?
Just Roll With It because I love challenges and pranks!
Tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you?
People would be surprised to learn that my favorite genre of movies is horror movies. The scarier the better.
Do you have a favorite LEGO set?
That’s a hard question! I just finished building the VW Bus and I installed the lighting kit, so that’s pretty cool.
Tell us a bit about your passion of protecting the nation’s forests and how you help the cause out.
My family goes camping every summer. It’s so fun to be outdoors, riding my bike, hiking in the mountains, and exploring. I think having the opportunity to be in nature is important for everyone and I want to make sure our forests are healthy now and in the future. When we are camping, we leave no trace. Our family motto is, leave the campsite cleaner than when we found it. So, we always pick up trash, even if it’s not ours before we go home. We stay on the trail! Wandering off the trail while we are hiking is tempting, but staying on the trail means our footsteps won’t damage the forest ecosystem. We use reusable water bottles, we fill up a big reusable container of water at home and use that for our drinking water while we are camping to reduce the trash we end up with. Lastly, we do our part to prevent forest fires. A campfire is one of my favorite parts of camping, especially when it’s time for s’mores. We keep our fire small and contained and always use the provided fire pit. We also make sure it’s out before we head to bed. These are a few of the things we do to ensure our forests stay healthy for others to enjoy.
Why should everyone tune in to watch Secrets of Sulphur Springs?
Everyone should tune in because this show is not what you might be expecting. You’ll try to figure out the secrets but will you be right? This show is going to leave you wanting more.
Special thanks to Landon Gordon for talking with us about Disney’s Secrets of Sulphur Springs and his career!
