Disney Star Jackson Dollinger Talks About Being In The Studio – Exclusive Interview

Disney Star Jackson Dollinger released his debut single “I’m Yours” on June 26th and will ill be releasing some new music in the months to come, which will be all written and produced by Jackson. This lead us to want to find out a little more about the day in the life Jackson in the studio. So this will be a fun look at how Jackson is making new music!

BSCKids: What is it like in the studio?

Jackson Dollinger: Well, I record in the comfort of my home studio. I always like there to be a vibe, no matter what that vibe. It can be happy, sad, slow or upbeat. I like it pretty dark when I’m in there with my LED lights. A lot of the time, scent can inspire you, so I have an aroma diffuser and I have a nice comfy spaceship type chair at my Studio Desk.

How does it feel to record?

I’m going through a lot being a kid in 2020 and I don’t always like to talk about my feelings. There is so much happening in the world right now and processing it all can be overwhelming at times. I have a lot of pent up emotions and when I make music, I feel like I’m releasing those feelings. Sometimes, the recording process can be a bit frantic and stressful. Sometimes, I have an idea and I want to record it before I forget, so I’m rushing to turn all my equipment on. Inspiration can strike anytime. It doesn’t care what you’re doing or where you are. Overall, the recording process is a pretty “go with the flow” thing as I progress in my music. I’m learning to trust the process more as I develop as an Artist.

Do you have any studio must have snacks or drinks?

I definitely do!! I have a whole fridge and water dispenser in there!! For some reason, I really like hot water with lemon and honey and One of a Kind Bars really get me going.

How do you get in the process of getting ready to record?

Sometimes I’ll just be walking down the street or eating lunch, doing something totally random and I’ll have an idea for a lyric or a melody, so I use the notes app and voice memos on my phone if I’m not near my setup. Normally, making a song just happens for me. I’ll sit down to make beats and let’s say I make 5 beats that day and one really spoke to me as I made it. When I start to record, I’m already thinking about what I can do vocally on it to make the best track possible. Then, usually the beat tells me what to write. I just write a little, record and so on and so forth and that’s how I make a song.
